It’s fine. I might be remembering from Slate days.

I subscribed to your newsletter in the before-times. Not sure how I dropped off (or maybe I didn’t and now have two subscriptions. It’s all good.
Okay!
What's your definition of "kid" for this story? I have a college student daughter who hates it and is in a class where they are supposed to use it all the time. She refused and explained why, and teacher said she is being obstinate.
Shocking to open this, read it, and find myself quoted. They didn't interview me, just "borrowed" from Texas Tribune. I promise they could find any number of faculty members here to speak to them on the record with a simple Google search.
That’s how I figured out it should be in containers…
I grow mine in raised beds, too, because of the climate/soil here. I planted a tiny oregano in one of them with some other herbs and by end of summer had only oregano, but enough of it for a small city. We have abundant sunshine here; just add water.
There’s a way to climb up from the end.
Yes. But my kid (grew up in Lubbock) is at college in Minnesota, loves it, and has grown so much.
I just gave my 2016 Impreza to my college-age daughter and bought another one. The old one looked and acted like new.
My sister is a big gardener and told me. I knew you have to grow in a pot, like mint, or it will take over. Its leaves do look a lot like mint.
Oregano is in the mint family, as is catnip. Some of my cats like all forms of mint. Maybe that’s it? I don’t know about the other ingredients.
Here is a brown tabby cat in a box of catnip, chewing the corner with joy. Around him, other cat amusements.
@darthbluesky.bsky.social Here is a cat who is too large for a box of catnip. Archie says hi.
Yes. We learned a lot.

We liked it a lot. Probably some of us learned more than others. Now I’m trying to get us to read Forgiveness, Matthew Ichibashi Potts — thought might make a good companion.
We just finished a weeks-long study of your book at my church. A couple of us had read it before; we roped in another 12 or so folks and worked through it together.
Thank god you’re back. One good thing!
Yes, I feel ripped off.
I am visiting your beautiful city this weekend (to deliver car to my daughter in college here), and I have been trapped by the weather. I expect a real blizzard in exchange for my extra day in hotel room. It looks promising right now — snow going in all directions.
Thank you. It is a hard day. He lived with me for 18 years and was the best friend.
A tuxedo cat, both handsome and charming, approaches the camera.
A tuxedo kitten, exhausted from play, reclines belly up on the back of a cushy chair in front of a big window.
A tuxedo cat, now a handsome old man, looks at you over his shoulder with avid shameclosing eyes, just like Leopoldo Bloom’s cat did in a famous novel.
Jake. 2008-2026.
Rock star!
@caverteresa.bsky.social Someone offering help with the hat.
We can mention race as long as we don’t try to “indoctrinate” students into thinking one race better than another. We can’t mention gender or existence of homosexual or trans or intersex people. Good times!
Every social theory undergirding Trumpism has been broken on the steel of Minnesotan resolve. The multiracial community in Minneapolis was supposed to shatter. It did not. It held until Bovino was forced out of the Twin Cities with his long coat between his legs. The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they’re the ones who are alone. In Minnesota, all of the ideological cornerstones of MAGA have been proved false at once. Minnesotans, not the armed thugs of ICE and the Border Patrol, are brave. Minnesotans have shown that their community is socially cohesive—because of its diversity and not in spite of it. Minnesotans have found and loved one another in a world atomized by social media, where empty men have tried to fill their lonely soul with lies about their own inherent superiority. Minnesotans have preserved everything worthwhile about “Western civilization,” while armed brutes try to tear it down by force.
Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
When reading the physician's sworn statement under penalty of perjury on shocking denial of medical care to Alex Pretti ⬇️
Remember Kristi Noem's statement earlier today: "Medics were on the scene immediately and attempted to deliver medical aid to the subject."
What’s happening in Minneapolis really drives home the absolute fakery of “brave stands against wokism” brand building pundits have been doing for the past decade
I won't claim to be the sole authority on the Twin Cities, or on how to help the strong, loving people who are fighting for my hometown. But this list might be an okay start:
Murphy: "It's always been the fear & now is closer to the reality that the Trump admin is creating this mayhem, particularly in cities in swing states, to take control of elections. They're trying to trade the presence of ICE & the murder & mayhem they are causing for control of MN's elections"
