No, effeminate boys aren’t being ‘transed’ | Xtra Magazine Hiding my transness nearly killed me. Let’s work to build a world where trans people’s lives aren’t quite so hard

A recent Atlantic column claimed society is allegedly "transing" effeminate boys. For my @xtramagazine.com column this month, I wrote a rebuttal using my own experience as a young, closeted trans girl. xtramagazine.com/power/identi...

“Anti-transgender activists clashed with women’s rights and anti-racism campaigners.”

More of this wording please.

It highlights that maybe, just maybe, “anti-trans activists” haven’t actually ever been supportive of women’s rights at all… 🤔🤨🧐

🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.

This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.

Please spread the word.

reminder, that if you're marginalized - esp disabled, a person of color, trans - you don't need to be on the frontlines. do what you can to help, but there's a ton of roles behind the scenes.

let people with privilege & safety handle front-lines responses. be as safe as you can be.

Any playwrights on here?

I’m new to it and want to build community in this area in 2026. Any queers on here open to showing me the ropes? Pointing me toward the best resources etc?

I’d like to make significant progress over the next 12 months. Maybe even get it up in the latter part of the year.

Just made the second donation to the Sameer Project in Gaza today from sales of my Risograph art print.

The posters are still on sale or give directly. People in Gaza still need us.

Wishing everyone a merry festive season. 💝

On the 15th of December this year, Aotearoa New Zealand passed the 2.5 year mark for Self-ID.

As we always said, there have been zero issues arising from this. Not a single incident recorded formally or informally, not a whisper of a problem.

The anti-trans activists lied to everyone.

The media blackout on the hunger strikers is disgusting.

Nothing but puppets for the worst people in the UK.

I've yet to meet a person in the real world who has heard anything about it.

Just checked and it looks like the article was corrected. Or I was reading a different article about it. Or it was early and I was already filled with rage to read clearly.

Anyway the point stands and solidarity with all trans people. 💜

Perhaps much less horrendous than the other phrasing it uses, but that BBC article also says “transwoman” with no space which is incorrect and a red flag.

You write “gay woman” not “gaywoman”; “black woman” not “blackwoman”.

Similarly it should be “trans woman”.

Any trans people struggling with the news from Girl Guides and Women’s Institute…

Can I send you a @polari.press book to lift your spirits?

DM me and I’ll see what I can do. 💜

Girl Guides and now Women’s Institute bowing to legal threats from transphobes and rescinding membership to trans women is so desperately sad…

I hope someone draws this wonderful story about Tom Stoppard's Arcadia and the power of the arts to help us see things differently, to the attention of our Education Secretary. Do read it, it will lift your spirits.

1 - My son and I met with Wes Streeting last year with other families. He heard the most horrific stories of children refused blockers and how it impacts them. We begged him not to ban blockers, and he promised to work with us, to have further meetings.

Artwork showing an upside down photo of Margaret Thatcher grinning menacingly at the Tory Party conference. Erasure poem text reads “Children have an inalienable right to be gay” in uppercase letters. The words that make the original statement homophobic have been removed with bright pink strips.

A reminder that children do indeed have an inalienable right to be gay. 🩷
