was anyone else creeped out playing donkey kong country as a kid? specifically the first game. the pseudo 3D sprites, the heavy use of shadows, the tonal shift between levels. the bosses you fight in this liminal banana arena against giant animals with horrible grunting noises. it creeped me out..
