Oh damn. Whoa. Thanks to the folks who enjoyed UNCERTAIN SONS AND OTHER STORIES (collection), "Uncertain Sons" (novelette), and "In My Country" (short story). And thanks again to @undertow.bsky.social and @clarkesworldmagazine.com. Congrats to the finalists. An honor to be in your company.

A very special call: Over our 20 (!) years we’ve published stories from all the continents of the world, except Antarctica. We want to remedy that.
We’re looking for stories between 2000–6000 words from writers who are in, have recently been to, or have plans to visit Antarctica in the near future.
Pisces: Your eyes go black and birds fall out of the sky as you smile for the first time in centuries. All is transpiring according to prophecy.
Virgo: Your emotional unavailability really does you in this time and they mistake you for dead. At least your crypt is opulent yet tasteful.
Anyway my brain is making just about literal busy signals now when I ask it to do anything (???) so everyone go read EVERYONE KEEPS SAYING PROBABLY and then go do something analog (I am going to bed to read a book and fight over pillow usage with the larger cat)

My tiny little story "How I Turned My Little Brother Human" is in this week's PseudoPod, excellently narrated by Elie Hirschman! Listen for tips on how to make the best of a tricky situation 🍃🌺
This week's @pseudopod.org has some great narrations, three stories I really liked and one whole new dead white man to add to the Yeetage pile.

This is a cracking collection of little stories. I narrated Visit Seahaven, which is one of those wicked little pieces that seems harmless, until it hits you over the head right at the end.
We promise you. It’s all true.
Get Nourished was a blast to narrate, and I'm excited to hear the rest of these!
Everything we do is funded by you. If you can, please go to pseudopod.org and click FEED THE POD

Convention season is coming in full force about now.
What conventions are you attending this year?
Wouldn't it be a beautiful nightmare if you and one of us might see each other in the flesh this year?
space horror is the best horror. what's out there? no one knows! big rocks. creepy things. sticky things. math! stuff on fire. big holes. big holes with math in them.
Moon's haunted. Happy Wednesday.
Whoa
Even seeing the ending coming, this hit and landed so very well.
Everything about the production of this story is fantastic.
Apropos of nothing, this is a story about someone carelessly abusing power without thinking it through.
We’re not open to pitches, sorry!

The first early reviews of Women of the Weird West are coming in!! I am so pleased readers are connecting with the stories and overall vibe of the anthology.
I hadn’t seen an anthology with this particular theme done before and didn’t know how it would be received by readers. In any case, I am
Sweet liberty, sapients, have we got something for you: the "Democratic Futures" special submissions call! In short, we're looking for original and reprint science fiction stories relating to the theme of the future of democracy, from today until June 30. For more details, see today's post!
We’re just a tentacled horror, standing in front of authors, begging them to fill in our form…
We know we’re preaching to the converted here, but if you submit and don’t tell us the name of the anthology/collection in your cover letter, and skip the form fields asking for publisher and (anticipated) publication date, your story will be rejected for this call.
We open for general subs in Aug.
Thank you, FF! 🖤
