this is great, thank you!
Thank you so much @bcsalmon.bsky.social for including us in the monthly best country column on Bandcamp Daily! We are honored
Phil Cook is best known for his work with Hiss Golden Messenger, Bon Iver, Megafaun and so on. But I loved Appalachia Borealis, his 2025 album of meditative solo piano pieces. So I talked to him about it and why he's making a "big career shift" toward the instrument that feels, to him, like home.
“There’s punk rock in the sawing, blistering rhythm guitar and country in the lead’s twanging ornaments, but balanced naturally, so you can’t see where the Ramones leave off and the Gun Club comes in,” says me about Twisted Teens. aquariumdrunkard.com/2026/04/14/t...

Album Of The Day: “Softest Attack.” In a crowded jangle pop field, Prism Shores strikes an ideal balance between sweet and serrated.
For Bandcamp Daily, I wrote today's Album Of The Day review on the new one from Prism Shores (@prismshores.bsky.social), an excellent pop-rock band from Montreal with sharp command of melody, melancholy, jangle and fuzz.
It's out now on Having Fun / Meritorio Records. Check it out! ⬇️

Very cool: More than 300 works of collage art by Grant Hart of Hüsker Dü, on sale as a fundraiser for a studio space and Hart's namesake artist fund in St. Paul, Minnesota. ⬇️
late-night listening ... such a lively and uplifting set
@bandcamp.com album of the day for The Montvales!
"It’s packed front to back with a sumptuous blend of country, folk, and pop that backdrops well-crafted stories about people and places, struggles and success, outrunning the apocalypse and embracing the power of optimism.
Something to do after you watch the space-people splash down, friends. Happy Friday.

Got any favorite albums that prominently feature the harmonium? I'd love to hear your recommendations.
March’s best country (and country-ish) music on Bandcamp includes psychedelic Tex-Mex, old-time folk songs, leftist honky tonk, and a legend of the banjo paying tribute to a legend of the banjo.
Check out my conversation with author/critic Andy Beta about COSMIC MUSIC, his new/recommended Alice Coltrane bio.

I did not anticipate there ever being a time in my life when I would be interested in basically anything Lou Williams has to say.
Realignment has made stuff like this meaningless, more or less. Which is a bummer.
Once again, it's time for my monthly roundup of the best country (and country-ISH) music on @bandcamp.com for Bandcamp Daily.
The March edition includes Tony Trischka, @bootstrapboys.bsky.social, Leah Blevins, @paperwingsmusic.bsky.social, Jack Studer, @themodernfolk.bandcamp.com and more. Enjoy!

LSD and the Search for God … live in Bend, Oregon
thank you for drafts, @bsky.app, much appreciated
I talked to Andy Liszt of the enigmatic shoegaze band LSD And The Search For God, who are clearly up to ... something. Finally.
I'm sorry, I know a number of you don't care about sports. But sports are the best.
Family reactions get me every time. The sheer shock on the Hurleys' faces here is priceless. Mom lets the expletives fly and for a second, Bob Sr. literally looks he can't even process what he just saw. Incredible.
