Congratulations!
Happy birthday Simone Weil. RIP. You hated when what's going on in the US happened in the 1930s and 1940s.

Of all the philosophers I had my students in my intro Continental philosophy of religions class read this past semester, the one they most connected to was Simone Weil, because they all said her focus on attention resonated with them in an age of constant social media stimulation.
It is just under 2 weeks until our next lecture/ reading group session on "Forms of the Implicit Love of God" with AWS Board Member Dr. Kate Lawson @katelawson.bsky.social Register now for an excuse to get reading and thinking during the busyness of the season! simoneweilsociety.org/events/readi...
one of the great, pernicious myths perpetrated about higher ed—which media, higher ed administrators, politicians, and a number of faculty are complicit in spreading—is that humanities departments close due to some combination of cratering student demand and unjustifiable cost. It’s not true

The @weilsociety.bsky.social is hosting its annual colloquy at Texas A&M in April '26, as well as an online conference. This group was invaluable for me during my MFA program and thesis-writing process as I read work by and about Simone Weil. Register, and as Weil would say, attend.
Call for Papers is extended to December 15! And we have an online presentation option for those who cannot attend in-person!
Last day to submit!
3) While in-person attendance is always the best option for engagement, there will be a substantive online option for those unable to attend in person.
One week left to submit your abstract. A few reminders: 1) We encourage papers that align with the theme, but ALL Weil-related papers are welcome, 2) All voices, backgrounds, and disciplines within and beyond academia are welcome, and 3) ... 🧵
