Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me?
Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.

To be clear, I have multiple clients who are undocumented but who have family members who are citizens.
I.C.E. IS INTENTIONALLY KIDNAPPING AMERICAN CITIZENS—with the hope that their undocumented family members have to present themselves in-person to claim them.
This is what we’re up against. 🇺🇸

Fannie Lou Hamer's Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party Speech

61 years ago today Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer one of the most courageous activists of the Civil Rights Movement posed the question that echoes today with every migrant round-up by masked officers, as federal troops converge on D.C.,as institutions are threatened:

"How can we communicate with optimism about the future … when we're living in the here and now where American democracy is in peril? … And we're supposed to ignore it? Leave it to others to wrestle with …? No no no no no. …

It is pretty noticeable that even as mainstream opinion on Israel and Gaza finally shifts, you don’t hear the Responsible Adults apologizing for punishing all the college kids protesting the atrocities. Quite the opposite in fact!

Setting aside the ethical and environmental concerns of AI, I'm really offended by a bunch of elite dudes telling us our minds aren't good enough when they've had to steal everything human minds have created to create their pretend mind and it doesn't even work right!

I do firmly believe that refusing to outsource your basic cognitive functions to LLMs right now - as so many are stumbling over themselves to do right now, like hogs trotting to a pile of slop that’s been set up inside of a butcher’s delivery truck - will very much pay off in a few years.

Little Haiti is vibrant. And it’s facing the same cost of living crisis as neighborhoods across the city.
That's why Brooklyn Chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn and I are bringing the Democratic Party together around a shared vision for an affordable New York. I am grateful for her endorsement!

Monday night’s one hour rainfall in NYC ranked 2nd…Only behind Ida. That this happened without a tropical system is significant and shows our new reality. The top 3 wettest one hour rainfalls for NYC in the past 156 years have all happened in the past four years.

The fact we have secret police whisking people off the streets doesn’t get enough attention. It ain’t normal and we’re further down the road to authoritarianism than you think.

Man, y'all gotta read this whole piece about a rally in San Antonio yesterday. Texas Democrats — led by big names — are organizing and moving away from DC and the DNC. And they're getting wild, cheering crowds.
