@right-here.org launched their Museum of Broken Dreams exhibition in Parliament this week. Its about hope and its and a time capsule of what could have been... think Sliding Doors but community power not Gwyneth Paltrow. www.themj.co.uk/museum-shoul...
It’s been 10 years since community appeared in a Bill's title in UK law.
It's the first time the word empowerment has ever been used.
Watch the introduction of the new English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill, featuring the Community Right to Buy.
Today the government found its voice on community power. Now, it should have the confidence to pursue a bold community empowerment agenda.
🧵 Here’s what we think:
The English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill lands this pm. Community Right to Buy finally on the table but will the detail go beyond the bill title and deliver real power to communities?

New blog by @lucysym.bsky.social shows how the social economy can deliver growth you can see & feel ✍️ buff.ly/vaZw8am
"If we accept that our democracy is in poor health, then we need to look at different ways of reviving it." Great piece from my colleague Linda at @powertochange.org.uk for @lsepoliticsblog.bsky.social blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandp...
New govt plans announced in today's Spending Review offer real potential for local growth and a chance for regional leaders to step up on the social economy.
But to deliver growth communities can see and feel, community ownership funding is the missing link.
Yesterday I visited the brilliant Victoria Hall in Settle, North Yorkshire – a community-run venue that's just turned 170!
With @coopparty.party.coop and Mayor David Skaith.
The town also boasts a community-owned pool and hydro scheme. Settle shows what’s possible when communities lead. 🌊🏛️
A brilliant new report from my colleagues at Power to Change, great reading for anyone wondering - this week especially - how to reset the relationship between people and politics
