Beautiful, but unhinged. I only nodded approvingly once at the Harryhausen skeletons.

The Thing trending hot? Are flamethrowers and warm places to hide more important than the film's isolating, extreme cold itself? Tell Matt it's howls of outrage from me.

I think the 4 humours would need their own separate set of quadrants to avoid miscategorisation (for example, The Shining is clearly choleric horror, despite being cold).

A set of four quadrants - hot horror, wet horror, cold horror, dry horror. Sunshine (2007) is hot and mostly dry. The Ruins (2008) is hot and wet. The Shining Shining is cold and mostly dry (sure, there’s that elevator filled with blood, but what happens when it congeals?) The Terror is cold horror (obviously), but it is also mostly wet horror: The Arctic Ocean is somewhat involved (wet). Gunky meat and plentiful gore (wet) Alcoholism (wet, then trending to dry; let’s call this one even) Lots of shipping (big wet sloppy kisses)

I'm afraid you are mistaken, Hero. Allow me to demonstrate, with the help of quadrants.

Troll answer: Rime of The Ancient Mariner is the ultimate incarnation of both Wet Horror (water, water everywhere; slimy things upon the slimy sea) and Dry Horror (not a drop to drink; Death as the terrifying spectre of dehydration) and cannot be reduced to either. It is 1798 and oceans are deserts.
