Dawg my fascist murderer pedophile president isn’t even funny on television anymore. It’s never been more over

Oh no, I say like seven of these, am I actually an old guy?
Sometimes I think about if the people who long ago rebranded the Baptist church north of White Bear Lake into Eagle Brook would’ve chosen another name. Would it be what it currently is without “eagle” in the name?
Anyway, in my head I call this culture lifestyle Instagram Christianity
I feel this deeply. Dx in my early 40s, a whole lot of what-ifs.
Also, I think I was on academic probation more semesters than I wasn't. Then I found a major I was truly interested in, wrote my thesis, won an award for it, and really perplexed my academic advisor with that entire u-turn.
my friend and his fam were driving back from SF to Portland today and said the protest in Medford OR was so long it stretched on for miles, and it made me think a lot about the people who gathered today in groups both large and small in communities where there’s still a high social cost to doing it
They say America doesn't make anything anymore but every day they're out there finding new ways to make the dumbest, most unnecessary dystopia
Every time my right wing brothers-in-law go off on some diatribe I think about how ashamed their great-grandparents would be. Pretending to be golf club WASPS but two generations removed from working all day for free because country of birth reads “Jugoslavia”.
No wonder they made žolca and blood sausage and dandelion wine.
Being paid for only the ore you picked (not an hourly wage), being at the mercy of a foreman who’d send you to an unproductive vein based on your ethnicity, so you’d often work all day for free.
At home, your wife is running a boarding house (and maybe more) while miners sleep in 3 shifts a day.
Very late to this (offline!) but connecting my husband’s family history to what I learned on the mine tour was a core experience for me as an adult. I knew his great-grandpa had been fired from the mines for trying to organize, but I didn’t grasp what that meant until the tour guide’s narration.
Also, what is going on with that ceiling finish? The corner is giving“blood spattered corrugated steel”
Okay but in that building’s defense it is literally the nicest thing in Hewitt, and gambrel roofs are pretty cool.
(It was a landmark on the drive to my grandma’s as a kid.)
Admittedly I wrote them off when I first met them because I figured the odds were low they were on the level, and that’s why I’m a bad gambler because I bet wrong. Felt so good to collectively vent.
Shout out to the couple from Willmar that I met yesterday at a swim up bar in Mexico who detailed all their experiences as constitutional observers and then sang the anti-Kristi Noem song at full volume in the middle of the pool.
A byproduct of the past four months as a Minnesotan is being outside of Minnesota and meeting other Minnesotans and instantly bonding over shared experiences.
Promiscuous girrrrrl, you’re teasing me
Give me another paloma, my jam is on
The airport tequila bar is blasting all the club hits of 2004 at 7:30AM on a Sunday and my bones are turning to dust
doing everything you can to kneecap renewable energy development and then immediately launching an illegal war that threatens non-renewables and may result in a catastrophic increase in energy prices is the republican party in a nutshell
on this team and gonna keep saying: behind the extremely thin veneer of concern and responsibility of anti-Bluesky takes is the desperate attempt to portray something that is obviously their problem as though it were our problem. nice try. go with God, have a blessed day
The degree to which even informed folks have internalized Murc’s Law is depressing.
I think it’s just European peasant food? There are French and English versions too, probably more. That video is jigglier than head cheese though, and I’m with you. That wobble is a no for me.
My grandma used to make syltä, which is Swedish head cheese, and she’d boil down all of these joints and assorted scraps and turn them into jellied meatloaf. My husband’s super Slavic family made the same thing but added lots of garlic. Anyway, no. Nope. Never. Not even once.
We genuinely need a revival of virtue in the United States.
In my view, that’s almost as critical a project as any other structural reform project necessary in the wake of trumpism. We should become a society that actually values human life such that we would feel shame about this.
ladies and gentlemen, *the electorate*
Do you ever just stop and think about how the federal government is attacking our state physically and financially *because* we were actually living too well by their metrics and the they can’t tolerate the integral part that immigrant and POC Minnesotans play.
A reminder that Minnesota as a whole sends more revenue to the federal government than it gets back, and on a per capita basis Minnesotans contribute more revenue to the federal government than residents of almost every other state in the nation.

I have but one precious life and if you think I’m going to spend it watching clips of a barely sentient human sack of used colostomy bags bloviate for over an hour, you’re wrong
There’s a lot of talk in my field that AI combined with LiDAR will replace my role, and I’m not sure I can envision a scenario where AI + LiDAR hold legal accountability for mistakes nor the E&O insurance necessary for such an endeavor.
Tell me you’re staying at the Marchand! That place is gorgeous. I need to go back via the train.
A very cute fluffy dog hanging out on a sofa at a romance bookstore in Mpls
