This week's new short story is "Notch: The Lost Years" by Patricia Caspers. Part Magical Realism, part Queer Coming-of-Age, and totally unexpected.

Oh no not Sora! Whatever shall we do?! Here I thought this technology was ‘inevitable’ and we are ‘simply going to have to adapt’ if we ‘don’t want to get left behind.’

I did notice the turtle at the beginning is named "Crush" like in Finding Nemo, and there's a nod to Ralph Eggleston (RIP, he was a lovely man!) and For the Birds at one point. But yeah that ending shot...years of research! I've also heard that a new Toy Story 5 character shows up in Mabel's room

'Hoppers' review: Pixar hops into a different decade - InBetweenDrafts Pixar’s 'Hoppers' is charming, thoughtful, and occasionally hilarious. But its optimism feels aimed at a world we no longer live in.

Guess I'll be one of the Debbie downers on HOPPERS, unfortunately. Good* movie, but kind of a frustrating watch for a variety of reasons.
