If you know even the first thing about Cairo (the one quibble I'd make with this story is it reads like the complex story of the town, which the reporter likely included at first, feels edited down to a minimum to keep things moving) you'd get just how infuriating and heartbreaking this story is.

this feels like a good place to recommend Ennuigi, a free game where you play as a depressed Luigi and wander through a ruined mushroom kingdom landscape smoking and making forlorn observations about his and his brother's lives

The Apostles of the Sacred Heart nuns made 8th grade in Tampa bearable. From using "Star Trek" & "Star Wars" as vehicles for teachable parables to history lessons that included Shirley Chisholm, Harvey Milk, John Howard Griffin & local indigenous culture, they were anything but typical educators.

1. Oh damn, that's a killer cover
2. I just picked up Planting by the Signs and despite the album being labeled in several places PLAY AT 45, I did not, and sat there wondering for much longer than reasonable if my record player was broken.

if you can pay attention to just how a comma annotates the music of thought sooner or later you may pay attention to the moment the dogwood buds open, and think about last year's timing, and then you may pay attention to how you are treated and how another person is treated, and ask questions

For Catholic women of a certain age, class, and … let’s say sensibility if not orientation … it was a socially celebrated and financially viable path to higher education and a life that wasn’t marrying some neighborhood dude and having 5 kids. Fuck these retrogrades who would roll back Vatican II.

I know we all wanna make mean nun ruler jokes but I grew up with nuns— Sisters of Charity—as close family and the only thing they would ruler-rap for is pouring a weak cocktail. I was educated by nuns in college and they were also badasses. Nuns are fuckin cool! (Except your personal traumatic nun!)
