Just completed, after quite a dilemma over what size and material the stand base should be (clearly Goshawks are opinionated about these things!).
She/he (colour shifting Lamberts glass) is available immediately, DM for details. But, y’know, I’m not in a hurry…

Thanks John - painting the blossoms to keep this glass piece light and airy… clear baroque glass andPebeo 160, a mixture of translucents and outliner (for texture)

Yesterday I was reminded of this #art piece I was commissioned to make a few years ago, extending the boundaries of stained #glass by setting Little Grebes (aquatic #bird species) in an open-edge panel to represent the habitat where they are most free…
Should I make more like this?

Would you mind my posting a picture or two? I won’t tag you (unless you’d like me to of course) but I’m working on ideas for a couple of other ‘edgeless’ pieces at the moment 🤔

Lovely to hear from you! Thank you so much - I was just looking at my photos of the grebes a couple of days ago, and wondering how they were getting on 😀

Hi Tracey - thank you! The base is Snowdonia slate, from a quarry just outside Blaenau Ffestiniog. I work with a local engineering shop when I need stand armatures, they are very good at shaping weird bits of steel to precise plans 😂

A joyful moment that never gets old: someone loves my Godwit enough to offer the ultimate accolade to an artist - to take it home!
#art is a piece of soul made visible, in metal and stone and #glass. Welcome to my heart-family, unknown friend- and enjoy the effects of light on the glass…

Thank you so much! I’m looking for a public display opportunity for them, hoping they might help people to see these amazing birds just a little differently…

Birds in stained glass, freestanding #art or wall sculptures, rarely window panels. My birds are celebrations, explanations, rants and sometimes tears; but like the birds that inspire them, they are all beautiful dancers-with-light…

Latest kinetic sculpture “We Were Angels” available to buy or exhibit - I love it in my home, but it seems selfish not to offer others the chance to enjoy the light glowing from these birds…

Some pieces come together quickly, and some take a few iterations to grow to maturity. The Herring Gulls piece, “We Were Angels”, gathers towards its finale; glowing with a little sunlight as I adjust the hanging points and sight lines to make sure they balance each other.

As the Yule (star)dust begins to settle, tomorrow will be a good day to get back into my studio and pick up my stained glass #WIP ‘Urban Angels’ once more. They are still burning in my head and heart and hands, not quite fully materialised just yet…

Someone needs to invent some kind of online calculator whereby we Brits can put in our recent healthcare appointments/meds/experiences and it’ll calculate what it would cost on average in the USA. Just to hammer home how bloody lucky we are to have the NHS and how fiercely we need to protect it.

It’s #wrensday and I am in my happy place (the ordered chaos of a #glass studio with -erm- about 3 pieces in development..!). Here’s a contribution to the day (blank greetings cards available!)

This stained glass Black-tailed Godwit on a carved slate stand is available. He stands 45cm/18” tall (& just a little more than that toes-to-bill-tip).
This pattern will be a numbered edition of 10 (although every #bird is always unique because #glass).
DM for price and shipping options.

It was huge fun to make - and totally inspired by that *perfect* glass… I was trying for the look and feel of a plate in an old bird guide, those lovely paintings where the birds *just happen* to be showing you all their ID features by accident 😊
