Hydroinformatics - CUAHSI Water Content Portal

2.5 I snagged a URL so I can tell people something easier to remember. You can now just go to www.hydroinformaticsbook.com

2. The book is now hosted by @cuahsi.bsky.social! I've been working with them for a couple of years now to use it as a pilot for a system to host more similar content. It feels like the book has a more permanent home AND has a more formal update architecture that I am less likely to break (ask me..)

Two and a half exciting updates to my hydroinformatics book (or: data science and hydrology?)

1. The materials all use the updated USGS dataRetrieval package now, yay!

Thanks for the shout out Paolo!

I’m excited at the ability of AI tools to get people started on apps like this. So far, I’ve found it takes some coding to make something more full-featured, but who knows what that’ll change..my guess is you could already tell this to use a specific existing model

The save icon continues to be an interesting indicator of changing computer literacy/practices:

Used to be students knew it as the save icon but not that it was a floppy disk.

TODAY in class multiple students did not know what a save icon was at all!

We don’t click “save” much anymore! Do we?
