BTW I lurked/posted very occasionally on CaB for years and years, then left because of the unpleasant environment a number of posters had created. I looked in on the forums a few months ago and was delighted to see the change. You deserve great praise for changing the culture there. Thank you.

I’m a fan of the other two eps obviously, and if I had to include them in the ranking they’d be Electricity in fifth place (I’ve never been all that arsed about the mythos) and Transport in sixth place (I don’t like the train thing).

Laughs, horror, great songs and even a bit of pathos. Fave Bit: Duck’s uncontrollable pissing. Or his heart rolling across the floor. Fave Line: ‘Goodbye to you…David.’ Or: ‘I made it myself. On the computer!’

Fave: Death. One of the best half hours of sitcom ever made. Up there with The Poetry Society, The Contest and Communication Problems. If I had any reservations about the transition from short YouTube videos to sitcom, they were obliterated here.

2nd Friends: Great to see the Computery Guy again, love Warren The Eagle. Some of the Brain Friends sections go on a bit. Fave Thing: Yellow Guy’s face when he notices Shy Imaginary Elder Brother during the final song. Fave Line: The entirety of the Brain Worm song. And ‘Freelancers deserve to die!’

Third Place: Family: Given that much of it is based around a trope I’m really bored of (creepy family w/ a ‘secret’) there’s so much I love here. Everything from when Yellow Guy wakes up to the end of the ep is just mighty. Fave Thing: the paper plate chicken mask. Fave Line: ‘THAT one’s the DAD???’

Fave eps from the Channel 4 version of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared...

Fourth Place: Work: A great season-opener, giving a gentle (by comparison with some of what comes after it) introduction to the series for new viewers. Fave Thing: ‘The Ultimate Forgiveness’ Fave Line: Mr Peterson’s ‘Whatta guy!’

I never listened to DTL at the time (or possibly listened to an episode or two but didn't get on with it) but am listening now having read the CaB thread and NOW I see what all the fuss is about. Amazing stuff.

@gregorybrothers.bsky.social I remembered something this morning: in 2008 I unexpectedly got the chance to go to this Ringo Starr tv recording in Liverpool (www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ag1M...). While a big part of me was obviously 'OMFG IT'S RINGO!' another big part of me was also

Interesting to see that when James makes a guest appearance in this (last?) week's Dangerous Dan strip he's still drawn in the original character design.

I bet deep down Damon Albarn is fucking /mortified/ that his multiple albums of interesting, occasionally wonderful, music with Gorillaz have to be accompanied by those fucking third-rate cartoons.

I (living in St Helens) got canvassed by a Labour councillor a few weeks ago. I said I couldn't vote Labour due to the proposed policy of taking valuables off asylum seekers. His response: 'The thing is...it's us or Reform.'

My family (me, wife and Beano-subscriber eight-year-old daughter) spent literally half an hour last night laughing at that strip. Daughter LOVED seeing memes she knows about (6-7 etc) and then got an extra layer of delight out of us showing her some of the other memes being referenced. Thank you!

I appreciated the discussion at the top of the ep about going/not going to the US. Great to hear your respective thoughts.

Christmas Links #4 1970: The Office Christmas Party | Man Alive | Classic BBC Documentary | BBC Archive:"It can be the greatest pitfall of the social year. And it can be followed by a 12-month hangover. If your boss hasn't spoken to you since, it's a fair bet that you had a good time at your office Christmas party. Traditionally, it's the one night of the year when the firm's hierarchical structure, that normally so rigidly holds sway, totters towards anarchy. [via LMG]" The Secret History of Santacon, America’s Most Hated Christmas Party:"A new documentary explores the booze-soaked and vomit-slicked gathering’s radical roots." Beware flammable skincare, too many sprouts and overindulging in cheese this Christmas, say health experts:"Some foods can interact negatively with certain medication while medical moisturisers can make clothes more flammable." A controversial infant Jesus is stolen from a Belgian Nativity scene:"Belgian authorities are mystified over a brazen theft over the weekend from a Christmas Nativity scene of an icon of infant Jesus Christ that had been widely scorned online." Refunds wanted after 'awful' Christmas drone show:"People who travelled to a Christmas drone show in West Sussex are demanding refunds after describing the event as "awful" and "shockingly poor." Viral Hype Over Fake Christmas Market at Buckingham Palace:"A fairy-tale image captivates millions: a festively lit Christmas market, framed by stalls, strings of lights, and a magnificent tree–right in front of the world-famous Buckingham Palace. The images quickly spread on social media. But anyone tempted to travel to London by this scene was bitterly disappointed. This Christmas market doesn’t exist." Is Paul McCartney's 'Wonderful Christmastime' simply… horrible?"There are almost certainly worse holiday songs than Paul McCartney's 1979 "Wonderful Christmastime." But in a genre famous for cheesiness, it stands out as among the most polarizing. And it's notable for being written by the same Beatle who penned "Let It Be" on the band's final album." How sustainable are Christmas trees in Switzerland?"Eco-fir trees are a clear niche in Germany, one of the main suppliers of Christmas trees in Switzerland. Artificial trees are not necessarily sustainable either." Try a traditional Latvian dish this Christmas:"Solstice and yuletide celebration food traditions have changed over time but some nuances have persisted. Ancient beliefs say we should eat plenty to bless the next year." Christmas-themed metro lights up Warsaw underground:"Warsaw’s metro rolled out its annual Christmas-themed train on Monday, adding a splash of festive cheer to the city’s two-line underground network." The nation's favourite Christmas movie has been revealed - and it's not Love Actually:Editor's Note: It came second which is still too fucking high (previously).
