No, they have been horrible to use for basic customer support stuff. Meta is very reliant on LLMs, for example, and it is essentially unusable if you have a question that is not answered by an easily accessible FAQ.

If a company doesn't force you outright to interact with a proprietary LLM, it'll send you to an underpaid overseas contractor who will input your question into an LLM and generate their responses with one. It feels like a window is closing and it won't open again

So far, after years of development, the biggest impact that AI has had on me personally is making any sort of phone or computer-based customer service interaction even more pointless than it was before LLMs.

‘it’s not the fucking babadook’ well right because the babadook is just a made up person. the slimeball voice that lives in your computer and tells your kid the right way to tie a noose is unfortunately very real

In retrospect the 90s were kinda big on clumsy, performative, but ultimately pretty well-meaning diversity projects

whats so crazy to me is the only job that chatbots could actually eliminate right now is ceo, every company could save millions today right now by replacing their ceo with a computer program that just parrots what other ceos say

Idk how this doesn’t enrage more Americans. Imagine society if all of this went to public education instead. If even half of it went to infrastructure

Loved Tim Curry as the voice of "Hexxus" in Fern Gully (1992). Just completely, fully stole the show, even outshining notorious ham Robin Williams in the same movie. This guy never once phoned it in for even a second.

Every time a Democrat mentions how to talk to "ordinary people" they mean "how I was told to talk by a handful of weirdo consultants in DC with gross fixations on throwing certain groups under the bus and who would not last a day in an ordinary job interacting with ordinary people."

Hey @nytimes.com, I already reported this earlier this week.

And the G650s you mention? I reported on those in FEBRUARY.

You credit NBC News and WSJ for first reporting parts of your story. Please credit me, too.

it's so cool how comfortably employed legacy journalists can just follow a bunch of independent journalists, rip off their stories, and still pretend they are better than the rest of us.
