In this piece, Axel explores the feeling of ennui experienced by every creative at some point in their process. With a sullen, painterly style reminiscent to that of Belgian surrealist René Magritte, he portrays a scene of utter helplessness. Alan has lost his identity and what little control he once maintained over his psyche. With each keystroke of his typewriter he spirals into a steady descent of delusion. Revealing the most intimate corners of his inner world, which once came to him as a comfort and a coping mechanism for his own self destructive habits. Alan is trapped in a cycle of self destruction. Paper streams out of the feed of Alan’s typewriter, yet no words are visible on the pages. This use of subverted expectations portrays to the viewer the dramatic irony of Alan’s story. His attempts are futile, he will always fail no matter how much effort he pours into trying to save himself. Penned by @Neon_and_Chrome
