Long story short is his whole premise is full of shit.
Software people see the possibility of AI because we are nerds who loved Star Trek as kids.
"Computer: Earl Grey. Hot"
And no one had to work to survive.

And today I learned that Patel used to be a lawyer which explains so much about how he is a fucking tool.
And once again:
Who gives a shit about 'jobs'?
Give us UBI and universal healthcare. Not fucking "jobs"
The stat that among genZ AI is hated more than ICE tells me more about how gen Z is idiots then anything about AI.
One of them is literally fascism. The other.... isn't
At the same time, places like Buc-ee's in TX show that it is possible to have an okay experience in a public restroom if someone cares enough to make it that way.
Coming back on a vacation from Tokyo landing in LAX the restrooms alone made it fell like going from a working modern society to a hellish broken one. And that's an airport not just random public.
I keep seeing these false dichotomies:
I don't want cities on Mars.
I want healthcare.
Like wtf do those things have to do with each other. I want both?
Or
AI bad, you should care about immigrants!
Um I do?
Oligarchs have trained people you to focus on the wrong shit.
I continue to be disappointed in the 'left' side of the aisle.
It's fucking simple:
Tax billionaires down to millionairs -> Universal Healthcare & UBI
Solved homelessness and fixed heathcare for you.
You're welcome.
Those 2 things also solve a ton of societal problems
Again, you are welcome.
I guess I'm glad the Clayface movie exists and that DC isn't afraid to try different things, but it definitely isn't for me.
I really don't like connections and think it's legitimately a bad game. Even when I get it with 0 or 1 mistakes there is invariably at least one category that makes me go 'this game is dumb'.
"Haha maga/maha sure are idiots"
No. These people don't believe in an objective reality. They think the truth is whatever they say it is. They want to reduce basic math concepts to 'vibes' and we can't let them.
Say it as loudly and clearly as possible:
"You are wrong or you are a liar"
It's also where I don't all that much about 'slop'. There has always been people who will put out low effort garbage just because they can.
But I think there are creative, interesting people who now have the opportunity to share ideas that they couldn't before (or thought they couldn't)
Are there more bad people with bad idea's who were just too lazy to do whatever.
Or are they a lot of good people with good ideas who just suffered from self-doubt about whether a thing is possible or how to get started.
Both obviously but I hold out hope the latter outweigh the former
I continue to choose to be the optimist and see the flip side of this. Yes a lot of potentially bad things that required effort are now trivial and are bound to have an negative effect. But there are also a lot of things that are good and now the barrier is lower for those things for people.
CEO of Verizon predicts 20-30% unemployment and pushes for 'education and reskilling'
How are these people so totally unable to see the complete and total contradiction between those 2 things.
There are 30% few jobs => We should train people to do... negative jobs.
People don't see just how good the latest tech is and at the same time just how good the open/free stuff is compared to the state of the art a few years ago.
They are stuck in this world of "gpt can't count the 'r's in strawberry" as if that has any relationship to what is currently happening.
There were literally entire businesses built around things like adult education for 'learning the computer' complete with scaremongering late-night infomercials how you were going to get left behind if you didn't get on the 'information superhighway' now.
I think the best way to do this would be to consolidate the CTC and standard deduction into a new standard credit for all adults and kids.
Be more aspirational.
I want UBI and universal healthcare. I don't care about 'jobs'. Yes reguluate AI. Don't let the Musks and the Altman's control it.
But I want more for people than shitty jobs to barely survive.
The idea is that 'jobs' are a thing we should protect and no?
We should be able to live and work on our own terms to without needing a 'job' to barely survive.
Maybe I watched too much Star Trek as a kid...
One of the things that bothers me about "AI bad" posts/stories are how its 'going to take jobs'
Maybe the problem is that we have to work to even survive in the 1st place? Maybe our basic needs should be provided (healthcare, UBI)?
what is with the totally arbitrary size of those age ranges?
18-22: 4 years
23-29: 6 years
30-34: back to 4 years
35-44: Okay now we are doing 9?
45-64........ sure lets just lump 19 years together here.
65+ (sigh)
Everything he does is for 1 of 2 reason:
1. More money.
2. Stay out of prison.
Both of those *require* him to do everything possible to be president for life.
Trump seeing Orban lose will actually make him double down on trying to consolidate power because he nows see that someone much further along in doing so was still defeatable.
He also will *never* concede defeat no matter what kind of margins there are.
Today is one of those days where the cat is permanently attached to me.
If I try to remove him, or move to a different location; he is right back on my chest or shoulders within mins.
This always happens when it's 30 in the winter. But it's like 75 right now.
The weird thing to me about that couple at the pacers (?) game?
That people think it's somehow noteworthy a couple has a conversation in which one partner would say "what the fuck are you talking about" to the other.
That's just like... Being in a relationship.
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da is fun. It's not even remotely the worst song on the white ablum, let alone the Beatles worst song, let alone the worst song of all time.
Among others I'm assume people selectively block it out of their mind that Rev no 9 even exists.
My go-to people don't know anything about TX politics statistic is that more people voted for Harris here than any state except CA.
