All that to say that the new Avatar movie ain't meeting the moment, not even a little bit (unsurprising if you remember the Jet episode, or just Korra period) These people need to give up on political commentary until they acquaint themselves with the local library.
They acknowledge that the system is guilty, but seem to insist that revolutionaries only make things worse. As if we didn't fight a civil war to end slavery. Or is it that fighting against oppression has to be state sanctioned?
Like why does the revolutionary always default to being the villain who goes too far? Or victims of war crimes default to vengeful monsters? Jk, I know why, neo liberal writers want us to internalize that a colonialist state's oppression should go on unopposed.
I really hate how cartoons always have a few episodes that are about how afraid of the Black Panthers the incurious poorly read white writers are. Like there's always a "revolution is good, but not too much now uwu" vibe, like wanting to upend hierarchies of oppression is somehow a bad thing.

Idk, I still think Eldenring is probably the most beautiful 3d game to come out this decade so far just off the strength of its art direction alone. Let artists fucking cook 😭
Like I look at the Concord disaster, and I can tell at a glance that it was originally supposed to be in the style of Moebius, but an investor somewhere insisted they "make it look more realistic". Like people give the artists shit, but let's be real, it was a Sonic the movie situation.
That's not to say games with realistic styles are inherently cynical, plenty are deeply artistic, however when I see so little variation in the AAA space despite the deep well of tools we've acquired, I have to wonder.
Tin foil hat on, but I seriously think getting people to focus on "Graphics" is mostly a cynical tactic by corporations to standardize the artistic expectation of gamers. Get people to believe that "realism = better" and you have a reliable selling point as graphics technology naturally improves.
Uncanny as hell too, dog looks like a skin walker. I see why they had to record using a camera instead of screen capturing. Embarrassing 😭

You know, I've been rewatching some Gundam, and I'm wondering how the hell this economy functions. I wish I could say it was a satire about the absurdity of a war time economy, but I seriously doubt it's that deep. Is that talked about at all in the show?
On point I think, so long as there's a big strong white sword boy they can self insert into, they're happy. Game of thrones however is about how no single person decide the course of history, and they really don't like that.
