I'm not saying that I'm going to start a Therapists Talk About Therapists On Screen group, but if I did I'm pretty sure If I Had Legs I'd Kick You would be one of the first picks for discussion.

Yang and Yang? Here I recrystallized urea, the world's most used fertilizer, with the amino acid taurine, first isolated from the bile of a bull. The symmetry of this formation, the size of a bread crumb, reminds me of the Yin-Yang symbol, except both components seem more Yang-like than Ying-like.
The Columbine massacre was on this date in 1999. Instead of energizing our country to get gun violence under control, it kicked off a new normal. One of the best explanations ever of journalism's destructive impact on mass shootings came from Roger Ebert in his review of Gus Van Sant’s “Elephant.”
Why would anyone expect a public service to make money?
If we're going to use this as a standard, how much money did the RCMP and the Canadian Armed Forces "lose" in the past eight years?

Sarah Polley's Take This Waltz is another candidate worth checking. Complete with improbable Toronto geography and other contrivances...and yet it works.
A tweet from Pope Leo XIV that reads: “When simulation becomes the norm, it weakens the human capacity for discernment. As a result, our social bonds close in upon themselves, forming self-referential circuits that no longer expose us to reality. We thus come to live within bubbles, impermeable to one another. Feeling threatened by anyone who is different, we grow unaccustomed to encounter and dialogue. In this way, polarization, conflict, fear and violence spread. What is at stake is not merely the risk of error, but a transformation in our very relationship with truth.”
Apparently the Pope has read Baudrillard.

Toronto: cold, grey skyline, asphalt, with torrid monochromatic vibes, demons whipping children

Whomever was the first to coin the phrase "Gravy Plane" is deserved a beer/kombucha from every Ontarian.

I am not interested in being a person on Instagram, doing collaborative posts with people or filming myself talking to the camera. I want to be a person who fucks off away from the noise and works hard and writes better and better books for the rest of his life and then dies. Why is that not ok?
Without the Gila Monster, no semaglutide drugs (Ozempic etc)!
A multicolored woodcarving originated in Oaxaca of a bat.
It's International Bat Day 🦇 and because I'm visiting Mexico--and because I love bats, and there are plenty of them here--you should know that en español "bat" is "murciélago"

Barbarella. I was eight. In a movie theatre (it was a re-release). Snuck in w/ my slightly older brother. The dolls with razor teeth (among other things *ahem*) did a job on me.
A graphic of the article headline, with the logo for People at the top followed by the headline, "EXCLUSIVE: singer Gaelynn Lea as people assume she must be miserable because of her disability: 'I have an awesome life'. Then there is a picture of of Gaelynn Lea playing her violin on a stage at the bottom of the graphic
Woo-hoo!!! 🥳 Thank you SO MUCH to People Magazine for writing about my memoir, the perception of disability, and my music! I am so excited that the book is finally out in the world... Thank you to the many lovely people who are helping to spread the word! ❤️
Read it here: people.com/singer-gaely...
Personally don't recommend these. As the article notes, these properties are typically achieved through PFAS, which can shed carcinogens in your home (which you then inhale) or come out in the wash (polluting waterways for decades). Will try to do a thread on how to treat stains in the wash.
Tech bros want you to believe the secret to life extension is biohacking or similar when the actual "secret" is accommodations and support for disability
Happy National Canadian Film Day! We’re not big on patriotism, but we got to admit, Canadians make some great movies. So we’re offering free rentals on all Canadian films all day. And check out some of the great screenings happening all over the country! @canfilmday.bsky.social
Found out about biodegradable glitter because of a thread on Reddit where people want to be ready when It Happens. Now I’m struggling with choices. Which one would you carry around to spontaneously celebrate?
