No problem. Good luck with it all!

It looks great. But I think I’m wrongly tagged. I’m no novelist. Business books only from me.

You’re clearly good at it!

Opinion | The World’s Richest Men Take On the World’s Poorest Children I’ve seen U.S.A.I.D. operate around the world, and it’s not woke — it’s lifesaving.

The world's richest man is taking food and medicine from the world's poorest children

I know. And in the 90s. It was extraordinary

Apparently his wife may have been a MUCH bigger part of his work than is usually acknowledged. The gardens are beautiful. And bc of him my first weekend in what was to become my home for 3 years was at a ZAZEN retreat in the hills of Shimane. Wonderful experience.

Sorry both! Just saw you’d already posted about this. I got excited because I lived where he did in Japan.

Lafcadio Hearn - Wikipedia

Gorgeous! Check out Lafcadio Hearn. Real connections to Ireland despite Wikipedia et al saying he’s British. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lafcadi... his memorial
Gardens in Tramore (near Waterford) are a hidden gem.

Excellent, responsible messaging on 😷 from the Victorian Health Department (Australia) 👏

Love the slogan:

Mask Up
Protect Yourself
Protect Them

Send this official health dept advice to loved ones or show it to a HCW who needs some encouragement to mask up

Calvin Robinson's license revoked by the Anglican Catholic Church over political actions Statement from the Anglican Catholic Church At approximately 3:00 pm today (1/29) members of the College of Bishops of the ACC were made aware of a post made on X showing the end of a speech made by C...

Earlier today, Anglican Priest Calvin Robinson ended a speech at a pro life summit in DC by giving the exact same Nazi salute that Elon Musk did.

The crowd laughed & cheered.

The Anglican Church revoked his license.

This is how you handle Nazis. You condemn them. You don’t pander to them.

This is great, thank you @natebear1.bsky.social .

It’s so different from English that I’d recommend a literal as well as a “real” translation to help you get a sense of it. One to one translations of poetry might be interesting depending on what you’re trying to achieve. The grammar is always diabolical though.

Genuinely read this as “Measles to help”. 🙄😂

Did your child lose their book collection in the Los Angeles fires? Are you a teacher at a school that lost its library or your classroom library? Whether you need one book or a whole library, we can replace your books. 📚

Everyone else, please boost this post so we can connect with those in need. 🙏

As with all things in Ireland assume the accent will make you despised by someone else.

Why are you so bad at this?

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

Peer reviewed articles have been roundly ignored by every family member, most friends and healthcare workers I’ve shared them with. As have “for the people” articles with links to studies. “Lessons learned” is mealy mouthed. What was learned? By whom? What difference has it made?

How is it an open question when we’re looking at failing policy responses in real time as we discuss those “revealed” by various inquests as well as time?

How about acting effectively THIS TIME Danny?!?

The pandemic is still here: 400 deaths per week in the US currently (and climbing again), goodness knows how many new cases of long COVID

“I’m after getting robbed” was used by a professor of mine in my first class. I understood it differently from non Hiberno English speakers. Decades ago and it sparked my (it now appears) life long interest in language and communication.

It’s been the most amazing thing to watch happen from the outside. How far in some ways. And still so much the same in others. Change and how it happens (or doesn’t) is always fascinating

It is strange looking back. But then IIRC I’ve seen Modern Family in KSA.

I was never allowed to watch that. And Bosco isn’t on here. He’s still the other place I think though?

Because if you like Bosco you can follow him I’m sure. And #WanderleyWagon is a very peculiarly Irish phenomenon too. Anyone outside Ireland has always assumed a fever dream if I tried to explain it.

David, remember how Gay Byrne brought talking about sex to Ireland? Carry On was a smutty English sea side version of that. Think Benny Hill and Dad’s Army and Horrible Histories all mixed up. (All googleable but I’d love to hear people’s take) and at the risk of taking you away from Ireland.

Down with that sort of thing!

Thanks Denise! Both are definitely an insight to different cultures at different times. And both, tragically, came up in conversations today. 😂
