I worked on a book on pancreatic cancer in early 2000s and boy was it depressing. Most patients lived at most 6 months post Dx (mostly because it was so hard to Dx, they didn't find it till it was very advanced).

A lot has changed in the 20 years since that book published—thank GOD (and science).
