I think of my new district as the Exit 118B District—a district so absurd that it includes both UVa and Virginia Tech, each of which are reached via exit 118B from their respective highways.
Tonight!
April's JimsNote.com is coming together. I think.

Every day brings another thing that is seemingly more stupid than the one 10 minutes ago.
An incessant flood of malicious, deliberate ignorance.
Agree, 100%.
My opinion is that we need a societal shift and how we build - transportation, density, economics, and all of which is tied to land use.
And a radical acceptance that nothing will be solved in our lifetime, but hopefully the future ones
For decades, experts warned: don’t sell off America’s helium reserve. Washington did it anyway.
Now a geopolitical crisis is choking supply, prices are soaring, and the U.S. is more exposed than ever.
Kidnappers in our community.
It’s national bicycle day. LSD anyone, apparently?

Instead of holding out hope for something different or better at some undefined point in the future, we should take the opportunity to make things better now.
Solar panels in parking lots is such an easy easy win.
I'd suggest a reframing to "how can Albemarle County incentivize installation of solar panels over parking canopies?"

Arrived early for showing a house and stopped at the neighborhood clubhouse to write a couple emails.
Watched a parent get into a giant SUV, put three kids in (probably between 6 and 10 years old) & drive .2 miles to what appears to be a friend’s house.
Normalize walking.

Clearly, Samuel L Jackson, did it better.
We are living in the most painfully asinine, and stupid of timelines.
Feels like an opportunity for every country except the United States to take advantage of this and rapidly shift away from fossil fuels. And redevelop away from gas powered vehicles.
"When a home sells, it often sells fast. When it doesn't sell fast, it tends to sit. One of my colleagues called it a bipolar market; I call it bifurcated market."

Here’s hoping that I learn something from today’s Charlottesville real estate Reddit AMA

Clients asked me today re: the temperature: "is this normal?"
I answered. "there is no normal; *today* is normal."
France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces.
Equals 10 nuclear reactors
Reduces heat island, shades cars
The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight.
Why aren't we doing this?
Going to do a Charlottesville Reddit real estate AMA tomorrow morning, so I'm reviewing January's AMA.
What questions would you like to see answered? What topics are you curious about?

Two pie charts visualizing regional economic linkage. The Charlottesville City chart shows that 71.3% of its workers are "In-commuters" living elsewhere, while only 28.7% live and work in the city. The Albemarle County chart shows a more balanced mix, with 45.3% living and working in the county and 54.7% commuting in from other localities.
A bar chart titled "The Rise of the Home Office: 2009 vs. 2023" showing the explosion of remote work. In 2009, only 4.2% of Charlottesville residents and 3.8% of Albemarle residents worked from home. By 2023, those numbers surged to 21.4% for the City and 17.0% for the County, representing a massive structural shift in the regional workforce.

While riding Crozet Connect into Charlottesville, I am updating this 2011 blog post from 2011 - www.realcentralva.com/2011/03/24/h...
Every outbound link in my story is dead.
I study racism for a living and can still manage to be shocked by how institutionalized it is. What do you mean they were giving tax-breaks to white supremacists celebrating treason?
just a wild country
I can't seem to break 50%.

Just saw one of the things that strikes me is being profoundly American, and not in a good way — an RV towing an Expedition.
So … World War III. And the US are the bad guys.
True, but I want it now. :)
Exactly this. Every state should allow/encourage this use.
