This is a really sobering thread about the real world effects of Trump’s deranged moves on Iran, and it’s shamefully selfish that nations with a bit more of a safety buffer are not really pressing for a peaceful solution that restores this vital trade route.
Freelancing is so much about feast or famine. However it amazes me that I can have things planned for the next academic year or beyond before one year ends.
No previous American president, in any era, of any party, would have tolerated a drunken, erratic, absent FBI chief

If you are properly curious about what is #Supervision and how could it work in schools to support staff, promote everyone’s wellbeing and safeguard children, this is a lovely listen. #EduSky @talkingheadsoak.bsky.social

What are your hobbies? Something you do simply because it brings you joy.
Mine - synchronised swimming, gardening, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, cold water swimming, baking, reading, watching TV, scrapbooking, visiting new countries.
Walking- especially this time of year in a bluebell wood…perhaps obsessively reacting to bluebells.
My weekly badminton session with the gloriously consistently inconsistent players.
Reading (and more recently listening ) to contemporary fiction. The Handmade God by Rachel Joyce most recently
Nigel Farage: People tell me they've always voted Labour, but not any more The Reform UK leader is expecting a political earthquake' in the local elections next month — but insists the era of Tory defections is over Nigel Farage refused to rule out a confidence and supply deal with the Conservative Party if Reform fails to secure a majority at the next general election Steven Swinford, Political Editor Friday April 17 2026, 10.15pm, The Times
The Times seems to be backing their man in the run up to the local elections. Chummy, unchallenging ‘interview’ that reads much more like a Farage advert.
Free passes handed out on his racism, misogyny, corruption, Trumpism, Orbanism, useless councils, dire candidates, failed Brexit…
Really shabby.

Oh it’s fabulous. The coast and inland. You are reasonably close to some magnificent bluebell woods too. Hope you have found Hardy’s Monument and a different Hardy’s birthplace as there are woods near both of those.
There’s a point where even the most committed politics nerd looks at the news, sees “wipe out a civilisation,” and just… logs off.
This week, when Trump threatened to wipe out a civilisation, I found mine.
Having just listened the why now factor about Melanie might well be age? Whatever happens to aging war criminals (also likely linked to Epstein) they will not spend long incarcerated.
“In a way, Trump's right in saying there’s been a regime transformation", says Ali Vaez.
“But the new cast of characters are much more hardline compared to their predecessors"
Trump is boasting of regime change in Iran, but what has been left in the wake of his 'war of choice'?
Would @darrellwakelam.bsky.social be able to help?
If these narratives aren’t challenged Islamophobia, which is as Emma says implicit throughout the article, risks being normalised.
Daily Mail social media image claiming: It’s grim when your child is banned from bringing home a picture of Jesus to plaster across the fridge door
I debunked the original headlines about these school guidelines when they first came out a couple of weeks ago.
But then the Daily Mail pushed this on Facebook over the Easter weekend, so I felt the need to address that too!

Great account and worth reading for those of you in school leadership dealing with the pushback the right wing press seems keen to generate.

Exactly and remembering the importance of knowing when to think fast and when to think slow (Kahneman).
Pause (or even paws 🐈)
Teaching with my eyes shut came from those micro pauses where you stop and ask “what’s really going on here?” before responding. Adopting this habit saved me a lot of fixing & apologising & built regulation skills in my classroom. 😌
Love this - it’s similar to the importance of anyone in a managerial role being consciously self regulated when dealing with heightened emotions. Or Dan Siegel’s ‘put your lid down’ parenting advice. So important ( and not always easy!)
Making it easier to become a foster carer and making it easier to overcome allegations puts children at greater risk. My new column:

It is.
In public sector tend to value intervention ( doing) rather than deep critical reflective thinking, those spaces and opportunities are often curtailed.
It’s part of why I so strongly advocate for supervision; a conversation that holds an exploratory mirror- what is happening between us, further on in the hierarchy and in how services are offered. It might be the unintended consequences of policy needing adaptation to this context now.
This is quite fascinating, especially about Epstein’s Russian links and the details that the UK as well as the US has yet to confront
