Local news, for all its faults, has been way more attainable and sustainable than any work I’ve done in entertainment journalism. Maybe that’s to be expected with it being more niche, but I’d encourage anyone still struggling with that grind to look into other forms of journalism. The water’s nice!!

So true story, one of my friends was asked out to prom by the son of the owners of Graeters Ice Cream in Cincinnati and is absolutely loaded bc their ice cream is the best.

Also as someone who was told local newspapers were a thing of the past and a “dying industry” it’s felt a lot less exploitative, desperate and impossible to break into than any gaming/entertainment outlet I’ve worked with so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’ve been writing for a local newspaper in a small town for the past 2.5 years and yeah maybe 85% of it is the same as games journalism or any other type of journalism, good reporting practices are the same no matter the subject. I’ve just had to learn more about photography, paginating etc.
