Original video
You can work digitally in an image editing software, or print the frames on paper and get your hands dirty doing all kinds of analog art techniques. I chose printing and it was so fun I lost track of time. I tried different printing/scanning settings and I like how this test turned out.
I used this lowres video I have shot back in 2007 with my Canon PowerShot. The process is simple, but can be tedious if you want to do a longer video. One common workflow is breaking a video file into images, do your art frame by frame and combine the images back in a video file.
For a long time I’ve been inspired by mixed media animations I see from creatives I follow on social media and finally decided to do some tests.

Experimenting with the Arturia #MicroFreak
After trying different letters and shapes, I chose ‘A’ because I like the way it spins in the frames. Looking at it now, I’m entertaining the idea of doing the whole alphabet 🤔
I was playing around with personal scans and images found on Internet archives. Started as a #collage / #typography experiment that was meant to be a GIF, ended up recording arpeggios and pads with my MicroFreak, and layering them in Ableton Live.
