Former primary Head here, now leadership coach and consultant in EDI 👋
I would love to see some research done on LGBTQ+ inclusion in children’s books, like CLPE’s Reflecting Realities report. I’m very concerned the publishing world thinks that because we have some LGBTQ+ rep in books, we can put our feet up and are finished. We can’t and we’re not.

It’s not just ‘turn and talk’ that’s needed. Children need support to know how to structure that talk to make is purposeful. Having some sentence stems to promote both structured talk and active listening is crucial for moving thinking, and therefore learning forward. Dialogic teaching does this.
Enjoying this at the moment on Audible and loved Louding Voice! Amazing reading from Adjoa Andoh 👏🏻👏🏻
Next time try
apricot compote (Bonne maman). Cook the chicken breasts whole, onions, garlic then simmer in compote until tender and juicy. Delicious with rice and veg
How inclusive are our classrooms this September?

The timeless El Nombre - my god this is a throwback from my KS1 classroom 30 years ago!
An interesting post - thank you. Not least because you so accurately describe the internalised homophobia felt by a whole generation of young people and adults scarred by the effects of Section 28. We can’t go back there…
Teachers with children returning to school today - I can only apologise…

I especially love the baffled (rather than cross) face and punctuating the day with short joyful activities to bring everyone with you 🥰
Primary teachers, early years teachers, senior leaders, DEI leads, ECTs, ITT trainees, HLTAs:-
As you prepare your classrooms and make plans for an exciting new year, remember to think about LGBT+ inclusion in your environments, language and practice.

Banning books and invisibilising diverse families and identities is surely not the way to respond to parents’ and carers’ concerns.
It takes courage to stand up for every community. How inclusive are you?

Just posted new blog on Bluesky and not (yet) on Twitter. Be interesting to see engagement. Will I fold and put it on Twitter too? Please help me avoid the temptation by reposting here!

Such an inspirational woman - congratulations Errollyn Wallen!www.theguardian.com/music/article/2024/aug/2...
Introduced to me by my 96 year old, ex-Headteacher, mum…
An excellent post for all schools looking to support the return of pupils after the holiday, following such upsetting UK events over the summer 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you #DiverseEd
Is it sad that I’ve just noticed my toothbrush and bathroom fan both hum in D, an octave apart? Just had both on together (a rare occurrence apparently) and it was a veritable orchestra
As an 🏳️🌈 educator working in the field I’ve been fearful of posting on there for a few years, in order to protect my family and my work. I’m here in the hope of finding blue skies, supportive discourse and new ideas. So far so good!
Great to meet you all 😊 2/2
Hello #edusky and
thanks to everyone who’s following me on here - appreciate it as a Bluesky newbie!
Like many of you I’m moving from the platform of hate and vitriol. 1/2
Have had to chuckle empathetically - good luck! 🤞
