He spoke softly as he helped Nat at the booth, and gave her the tea she ordered.

James got his wallet out to pay the clerk as Nat grabbed their treats. Once he got his credit card back, he placed everything in his wallet and stored it away.

He told the clerk politely as he grabbed the drinks from Nat and started to scope out a place for the two to sit. >>

<<looked over at Nat kind of overwhelmed by it all and pondered for a moment on what he wanted, he knew he would like it hot though.

“How about just regular black tea, with one spoonful of sugar please.”

He asked as the worker rang them up.

James smiled when Nat began to offer for the both them.

The woman behind the counter offered a warm grin as she began to speak.

“Oh! We have black tea, green tea, herbal tea, white tea, and you can add just about anything you want to your tea. You can also make it hot or warm.”

He couldn’t help but chuckle at the sound of the bakery. The soldier licked his lips as it had been a while since he’s had any sort of treats.

“Perhaps that is what I am smelling, along with the coffee. Is there any red velvet cake?”

He asked as he glanced over at the bakery window.

The soldier was beyond grateful that Nat truly knew what he was like, and knew not to push buttons. After all, it was a nice beginning for the new year for him.

He gently squeezed her hand back as the two walked through the door, and he took in the smells of the cafe.

“It smells so good in here!

“It’ll be my treat, love.”

Barnes swallowed back thickly as the thought of going somewhere where other people were terrified the man. However, having Nat by his side helped. The soldier entwined their digits together as they began to walk, and a smile came upon his rugged face.

The way the redhead looked at him lovingly sent chills through his spine. The soldier wanted to pout playfully as she pulled away, but he knew the two would be together again soon.

“So, shall we?”

He asked holding out his metal hand to Nat as he grinned softly, she was bringing back his joy.

James couldn’t help but nuzzle against her, taking everything in, including enjoying her touch. With a simple nod, he agreed since it had been a while.

“I think I would like that. Over tea perhaps?”

He grinned softly as he rested his forehead upon her own, taking everything about her in that he had missed, and shrugged.

“I’ve been….alright I guess….”

He spoke softly as his voice trailed off.

It was rare when anyone would call him James, but he only accepted it from Nat. The soldier couldn’t help but pull her closer as he smiled.
