I have done this on my Kindle Paperwhite 11th gen and I have zero regrets.
@dammitjeff.com has some great videos on this, too.
If you own a kindle you owe it to yourself to free it from Jeff Bezos grubby hands. @dammitjeff.com's guide is what helped me.

omg I finally cracked the biggest problem with self-hosting music:
Discoverability and recommendations
it's a combo of a few apps but FINALLY:
• Scans your listening history and makes recommendations
• Auto Downloads a new playlist of NEW music weekly
ALL 100% automated.
New vid soon promise
Correct. Which is annoying
Looks like Amazon is discontinuing support for older kindles
If you sign out or factory reset, there is no way you can use them again.
Scummy. :/
Seems like this one is android only...? :( Which sucks, because testing it, it's phenomenal
Hell yea brother 🔥🔥
damnnnn they sniped your intern man 😭 BIG news congrats to him though!!!
Jellyfin tbh…is uglier 😭
oh 100% im a big fan of plexamp lol, its how ive been able to escape music subscriptions. Just want to also give options to people who might not want to spend on a lifetime plex pass :)
Question for my self hosted people, what mobile/desktop clients do you like for Navidrome? Anything I should showcase? Navidrome seems cool but MAN its kinda ugly lol, surely there's gotta be a better way to utilize it
@dammitjeff.com is out here doing the work. Appreciate you man!
3 Videos in one month 🫠 literally nnever been able to do that before
If you've been thinking of starting a homelab server, do it now, before it's too late, seriously.
A full YEAR worth of my self hosting experience.
Crammed into one 30 min video going over EVERYTHING.
What to buy, what software to get, how to get everything online, etc. Coming out TOMORROW. :)
Being on the last exfill out of a game marathon has the same feeling as when you were a kid and the store was closing and they were turning off the lights and everyone has already left
Its so eerie
Highly recommend hopping on owning your own media.
This is a great resource 👇 and I'm always happy to help.
Video kinda inspired me to save an old office pc from rotting in a dumpster (literally got this for free)
I have no hard drives for it rn but I have #plans
It took a lot of enshitification to get me there but just letting you know this video was the final push i needed to start self hosting some things again.
Running multiple Dockers on my m4 mac mini sipping less power than an old lightbulb
I love this guy.
Well, thanks to @dammitjeff.com I've been just about successfully nerdsniped into giving ZimaOS a shot on my server. Been rolling Mint XFCE on it but ZimaOS looks so much more purpose-built and more what I'm looking for.
(Man, where was this video several weeks ago when I was setting up?! Ha.)
AHHH I JUST SAW THIS DUDE HELL YEAH
Glad you were able to get it up and running!
Big ups to @dammitjeff.com for his always-concise and excellent videos on the topic. My kindle ocean already owes you one.
I spent a year learning how to Homelab. Here's how to get started: youtu.be/AtgCcMjtqF0
