This is something ghibli films do extremely well too, particularly Nausicaä Valley of the Wind where they chose insects as their focus for environmental & wildlife conservation. Ppl really need to move away from thinking only the cute/pretty parts of nature are worth saving

I really like how Common Side Effects uses fungi to center its environmental message because I think a trap a lot of environmental movies/shows fall into is relying on the cuteness of animals like a mascot to show why nature is important when not all of nature is cute.
