I love @bsky.app It’s an intellectual sigh of relief after that other nasty place.

Never forget, for many years #Uber insisted loudly that it would reduce traffic in cities. Instead, Uber drivers cruise without passengers 40% of the time. Uber and Lyft no longer claim they reduce traffic. They now admit they increase congestion.
So much for “making cities better…”

I’m transitioning from the other (hateful) place. Nice to see you’re here.
I know, right. Apparently there are some deviants who think it’s acceptable to jam the sink full of crap.
Quick poll. Are you someone who rinses the dishes and puts them straight into the dishwasher.
Or are you a psychopath who rinses them and leaves them piled in the sink. In the damned sink!*
*Weird that I’m not married…
Suggest we revisit this conversation in a decade.
Nope?
Thanks to a bunch of morons, falling for the lies of an orange buffoon, we, the rest of the planet, are so fucked. The US is the second largest polluter on the planet.

Twitter is full of awful content, videos of people fighting, or dying, and so many crackpots. The descent into the abyss happened fast. If this is Electric Jesus’ vision of his brave new world, he can keep it.
Thank you. Much appreciated.
To the tech nerds and cyclists - does anyone have a recommendation of a good camera for a bike, upper end would be a GoPro, but I’ve also seen someone using a Zero-X ZX30? I’m riding in Wellington, so want clarity to document my likely demise :)
This was a heartbreaking story to work on: New data from reveals the crushing burden of Long Covid in NZ.
Reading testimonies is like reading obituaries. LC patients describe their lives in the past tense, because the lives they used to have are now gone.

I usually shop at night, just before closing. Did the shop at P&S at lunchtime. Everyone around me looked the same, checking prices, stressed. Lady in front of me held back some items. The quiet conversations in the queue were all about what could be afforded. $80 secret Santa, my ass.
Hi there, is there one planned for WLG? Cheers.
It makes me feel like we are automated, simply machines harvesting money from us in a mechanised way.
Will it require any legislative change, or is it a charter / charity type organisation?
:)
Okay, I get that. Are you trying to build an actual body that’s funded and has access to legal advice and help? Or a support group with a knowledge base. Will it be funded, and if so, how.
Oh, yes! I had to do one of those the other day with an Aussie bank after spending two hours trying to understand why they repeatedly closed one of my accounts. The man calling me said that I seemed frustrated. Frustrated was the first 20 minutes, pissed off was the stage I was at.
Kia ora;
What are you trying to achieve?
I’ve been unsubscribing from mailing lists. So far I’ve unsub’d from Three Wise Men four times; but that hasn’t halted their emails. They’re far from an orphan, many other businesses are proving difficult to shake. Do better.
That’s excellent. So happy for you both.
With the right school environment, she’s going to shine.
Well, she’s an awesome kid and she has an awesome mum. Just got to navigate the next five years :)
Happy Birthday! How is it possible that you have a teenager? :)
Happy anniversary to you both.
We’d send young ones to the parts store for radiator caps for VW Beetles (they were air cooled), or the aforementioned long weight. They’d be told to stand in the corner for a minute, and after 20 minutes if they hadn’t clicked, the parts guy would yell at them to quit fucking around and get to work
Any training is a great idea. Don’t be afraid to attend some of the training run by clubs like AMCC. Also, practise your braking and aiming for gaps very regularly. Threshold braking is a perishable skill set. I spend at least an hour a week in a carpark just practising; it’s saved my life.
That’s a wonderful start. I’d also respectfully suggest actively working on skills like panic braking (threshold braking) at least once a week in a quiet carpark. I’ve been riding and instructing for 30 years, I keep current the same way. Lots of practise. Life behind bars is wonderful.
Had to drive into Wellington CBD today. Nothing says motorcycle like trying to navigate and then park a small car...
Petone to Normandale bike path
Petone to Melling bike path opens today. Another link in our cycling network. Thanks Waka Kotahi. Let's keep building.
