TLDR - I want Iga to be at peace and happy. If that involves removing team members who've helped her succeed- her own well-being is more important, and I hope she does what she needs to do get back to that place. (6/6)

These negative relationships aren't unique to pro tennis either- I've seen it locally in youth tennis many times. . . It makes me grateful for the parents/coaches/support staff that can be around athletes supportively and healthily (Coco's team, for one stand out). (5/)
Whether or not thats the case here, I'm not sure- but the examples are many- and why its been so uncomfortable to watch some players who were my favorites when they started - Rybakina, Tsitsipas, etc. . . And I feel the same way about Swiatek now. (4/)
Without opining on what I don't know, more than anything else- as fans, we should want the players we like to be happy- even more so than their success in a match or tournament. We have seen so many example of coaching/support team relationships that have been detrimental to that purpose (3/)
This was before she had a big team- I sat right behind her support group of 3- none of the team she has now. . . I don't want to judge what I don't know- but it has been clear for some years now that she feels extreme stress and is not happy on court during matches (2/)
Been pretty quiet on tennis lately, but I want to come back to something. On Iga. . . I feel like I was pretty early. Dragged my brother out to the field courts for her 1st and 2nd round matches at 2019 US Open against Jorovic and Sevastova- with about the 20 other people watching (1/)
Kolanovic: Tacos aren’t on the menu this time. 🌮
I'm not trying to pick on or shame anyone, but it makes my skin crawl when I see this type of shit, even when it turns out being right, because all it achieves is minimizing the accomplishment... Just stop... It's a competition. Appreciate that. Focus on that.
You know, how about when people write/talk about sport, we avoid the hyperbole and talking about what "will" happen, like it's written in stone.
Maybe all the people saying that a kid is unbeatable need to remember that the Olympics are hard and you should maybe just...not.

There is only one Daniil Medvedev. Tennis would not be able to handle two.

FOR FREE.
Not that I disagree that Pegula and Navarro's money hasn't made their success far...FAR more likely, but hilarious that Macci seems to suggest it mattered for THEIR success but not Fonseca's.
For men, it's earned. For women, it's purchased apparently.
Know it's not normally what I post about here, but went to Wicked North American Tour in SLC last week. Only my 3rd theater production, but it's easily becoming my favorite artistic medium . Lauren Samuels and Austen Danielle Bohmer were so incredibly good. Run, don't walk to the theater. . .
Players should read and heed this paragraph by Andrea Petkovic today:
JPMORGAN: “.. Today's US trade and inventory data have prompted us to revise our 1Q US GDP estimate to -1.8%q/q saar––significantly worse than our previous estimate of 0%.” 🇺🇸
(Bloomberg) - It just keeps falling.

Dear Hawk-eye, are you sure? Because it looks like it missed the line by at least a tennis court. 🎾👀 #tennis #atp #wta
A screengrab from Twitter. HeatherLhaney @heather_l... asks: “Why do you think we have so many more kids with Autism” David Dennis Jr. @DavidDTSS quotetweets this reply: “Probably for the same reason there are so many more planets in outer space now than there were before the telescope was invented”
Staple this to RFK Jr’s forehead.
JPMORGAN: “.. as of now we maintain our 60% US/Global recession call from last week. The 40% non-recession call includes the possibility of further backpedaling from Trump on China tariffs.”

Okay- I feel like I'm always grumbling about Tennis Channel. To be fair, credit when it is due. Nothing better that Chanda, Courier, and middle rounds of Miami this Sunday afternoon. 👍
As all of my followers here should already know well, Courtney is the very best, and the WTA and its players were so, so damn lucky to have her for a decade.
On to the next.
