Same tree, just three days apart. The soil work was terrible but I’ve nearly finished a full water cycle and the tree is showing great bounce back and the roots are functioning well and transpiration is back up and humming! 🌱🙌 #pnw #gardening #mikawa

Soil work is good for the soul (and bad for my back)

Well I think I nailed the soil composition. I put 30lbs of pumice into this strip between my Mikawa Yatsubusa and the three Japanese holly ‘Helleri’ I amended this weekend.

Totally worth it but damn I’m tired!

Take two! Water/oxygen pathways operated really well on the second watering. I think the structure is good and is draining well now.
