I spent about 120 seconds confused by the QT (120 seconds too long, I admit)

A folded protein couldn't do it (most of the residues are inaccessible) but a short polypeptide might be able to if there were intrinsic affinity between amino acid and codon. The stereochemical/escaped triplet genetic code hypothesis, in reverse.

Or the CAT tails templated by Rqc2/NEMF, using (60S) ribosomes and tRNA but with protein substituting for mRNA

Exhibit Cross Reference - Hot and Cold Coils

It's also much easier to keep touching the Hot and Cold Coils, then something that's actually hot, though the instantaneous sensation is of intense heat

(iirc you are nearby enough to go try)

Is "you" your whole organism or some subset of it?

4 days ago 1 0 0 0

It's *much* harder to successfully pre-decide to keep touching hot things, than it is to decide afterwards to go back for more

Yay proportional editing is now available in the Coot 1 API (in the daily)!

This alters the sphere of influence of dragged refinement, which helps a lot when making large adjustments - register shifts of helices, domain movements, etc.

I've added in a little widget to set it in coot1-trimmings.

It was actually two of them cobbled together, it could do a whole pound very nicely but you had to watch it. Definitely outside! But now I use a Gene Cafรฉ and a drier exhaust duct to direct the smoke away

It's really one of my favorite things, though I try to be careful now we know the smoke contains acrylamide (thus Prop 65 warnings in CA). For some reason several people I knew in grad school roasted...we had a co-op for our floor, and I got started with a 70's air popper we passed around

The proteina-complexa paper is the 2nd this month suggesting that high K+E content, a staple of ProteinMPNN designs, is predictive of poor expression (the bits in bio benchmark paper showed a few weeks ago). In their case, they measure poor sequence recovery in phage display

It feels like a dual quaternion application to me (composition of screws), idk about display but it does make intervals easy to write down

4 weeks ago 2 1 0 0

Are you familiar with dual quaternions? If not, fun way to think about composing screws like this

Fair! To be honest a bit of a rhetorical question - I suspect it may be as unreasonable to be surprised by worldliness in public education, as (imo) it is to object to it

Does the UK not have education content standards? California's closely reflect what we had 30 years ago, still the foundation of my general knowledge.
