A UV illuminated agarose gel showing the results of a PCR assay. First well is a size standard, next 3 wells have bands for positive controls, next 4 wells are bands for unknown males, and last well is a negative control with no band (yay)
Focusing on the small wins: first data points from this semester’s CURE course! Students are using a PCR assay to ID male sawflies collected on different pines. This is a perfect gel- all positive controls had bands, neg control didn’t, and all 4 unknowns worked. Yay! (W/ @jakebnwatts.bsky.social)
