Captured by the Artemis II crew during their lunar flyby on April 6, 2026, this image shows the Moon fully eclipsing the Sun. From the crew’s perspective, the Moon appears large enough to completely block the Sun, creating nearly 54 minutes of totality and extending the view far beyond what is possible from Earth. The corona forms a glowing halo around the dark lunar disk, revealing details of the Sun’s outer atmosphere typically hidden by its brightness. Also visible are stars, typically too faint to see when imaging the Moon, but with the Moon in darkness stars are readily imaged. This unique vantage point provides both a striking visual and a valuable opportunity for astronauts to document and describe the corona during humanity’s return to deep space. The faint glow of the nearside of the Moon is visible in this image, having been illuminated by light reflected off the Earth. [alt text from NASA]

The #Artemis II astronauts said they needed more superlatives to describe their view of the eclipse, when the Sun was behind the Moon and its near surface was faintly illuminated by Earthshine

Earthset captured through the Orion spacecraft window at 6:41 p.m. EDT, April 6, 2026, during the Artemis II crew’s flyby of the Moon. A muted blue Earth with bright white clouds sets behind the cratered lunar surface. The dark portion of Earth is experiencing nighttime. On Earth’s day side, swirling clouds are visible over the Australia and Oceania region. In the foreground, Ohm crater has terraced edges and a flat floor interrupted by central peaks. Central peaks form in complex craters when the lunar surface, liquefied on impact, splashes upwards during the crater’s formation.

Izzy and I had plans to go to Whidbey Island to meet up with our friend. We ate oysters. Had our tarot read. I got to ride the ferry for the first time. And I even got to see the ISS fly over us as we rode the ferry back home.

10/10 weekend.

That night, I decided I hadn't done enough exercise so I headed out to the club. Pretty sure I met god on the dance floor. No biggie. Came home at 6AM to watch the most beautiful sunrise of my life rise over the cascade mountains. This is the only pic I got when I got home.

My bestie and I could not have planned for a better day to go to Mt. Rainier. It was our first time and it felt magical. My only regret was not owning a pair of skis to come down on. The powder was perfectly fresh.

My bestie and I went to Mt Rainier for the first time this weekend.

We can actually see it from our house 85 miles away. And I wanted to just take a collection of photos of how big it gets while driving to it.

Thought about this while the Artemis II Astronauts broke the Apollo 13 record for the farthest human beings have ever been away from the Earth.

There’s something about watching astronauts go into space while the livestream chat is filled with ASCII dicks. Truly what Neil Armstrong would have wanted with space travel

Every once in a while, I still think about this scene from the King of the Hill reboot, which was fantastic. And that comes from someone who grew up with the show.

"It's nice to be nice." Such a simple and effective message.
