Was man so macht an einem Donnerstagsmorgen 🤷🏼‍♀️. Eins davon deckt sich mit dem Jahresvorsatz ein bisschen Portugiesisch zu lernen. Neben dem, was u.A. hier so viele schreiben und was in jeder Zeitung steht, kommen - bei ernst zunehmenden, dauerhaften Grenzkontrollen - über 200k. Grenzpendler*innen wie ich halt einfach nicht mehr vernünftig zur Arbeit. Angesichts der Menschenfeindlickeit dieses 5-Punkte-Plans ist das ein Mini-Problem, aber eben mein akutes und noch eines on top 🤬.

Die Idee, dass es „echte Deutsche“ und „nicht so richtige Deutsche“ gibt, die man je nach Bedarf wieder zu Fremden machen kann, ist dem Grundgesetz vollkommen fremd. Sie stammt aus der völkisch-rassistischen deutschen Tradition. Die CDU täte gut daran, Merz deutlich zurückzupfeifen.

The figure shows 4 maps of Germany that depict the regional distribution of training dropouts at the district level for the years 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020. In addition to a general trend towards more dropouts, the maps show increasing regional differences, particularly between 2010 and 2020. While the difference between the lowest and highest dropout rates was still 13.2 percentage points, this difference rose to 31.2 percentage points by 2020. In general, the trend shows that dropouts are becoming more frequent in the north-east and west of Germany, whereas the south and southeast still have comparatively low dropouts rates.

What does space have to do with dropouts rates? My new article says: a lot! Between 2005 and 2020, the no. of trainees dropping out of the dual training system rose steadily. The trend has a regional component. See the article (🇩🇪) for more details:

Causal inference for psychologists who think that causal inference is not for them. Correlation does not imply causation and psychologists' causal inference training often focuses on the conclusion that therefore experiments are needed—without much consideration for the causal inference frameworks used elsewhere. This leaves researchers ill-equipped to solve inferential problems that they encounter in their work, leading to mistaken conclusions and incoherent statistical analyses. For a more systematic approach to causal inference, this article provides brief introductions to the potential outcomes framework—the “lingua franca” of causal inference—and to directed acyclic graphs, a graphical notation that makes it easier to systematically reason about complex causal situations. I then discuss two issues that may be of interest to researchers in social and personality psychology who think that formalized causal inference is of little relevance to their work.
