Lying lier lies…no surprise there 🤷‍♀️ I wish we’d have no need for fact checks because we had laws that prevent politicians from lying to the public.

And sadly, some of those mistreated allies will fall all over themselves to do as he asks.

My world got smaller today. All the political BS I’m usually focused on faded away as we had to say goodbye to this amazing creature. After a breakfast of vanilla ice cream, Auntie Em saw her vet one last time. Everyone in the room cried with us as she went back to the stars from whence she came.

And why does it appear they all have their pants hemmed to the same length to allow equal ankle/sock exposure?! 😬

Have to admit, given the state of the world (and my home province in Canada) I’m not feeling very celebratory with respect to International Women’s Day 😕🤷‍♀️

There are 56 Commonwealth nations including Canada, Australia, and India which combined have a population of 1.54 billion people. Yet the folks of the @ukparliament.parliament.uk fall all over themselves to declare the US their closest ally. Watching UK gov. grovel before the US is disheartening.

We have choices in Nova Scotia.
We can choose hope or fear.
We can choose abundance or scarcity.
We can choose community over cliques.

We can choose who we allow to represent us in government.

This is not my premier. #nspoli

“Anyone notice how civil rights became "DEI" and got framed as "racist" against white people, women's rights became "feminism" and got framed as oppressive to men, "freedom of religion" became "religious liberty" so Christian nationalists can act like they're somehow the victims, help became "entitlement" so billionaires can convince you to hate the poor, a fetus became an "unborn child", immigrants became "illegals”, and protesters became "domestic terrorists"?”

I’ve got nothing to add to this…except I’ve noticed.

I left Alberta a long time ago, but I was born and raised there. I completely agree with the Chief, too!

My heart feels for the the city and state leaders, but begging Trump to pull out is not enough. You have a police department, you have a state patrol, you have a National Guard - activate them and arrest ICE members terrorizing your community. Watching and begging just ends with more deaths.

This plan couldn’t be more morally bankrupt unless they were building a holiday resort on the site of a WWII concentration camp. So glad Canada had refused the $1B “Board of Peace” invite even before the temper-tantrumy disinvite came via social media.

'We should let them come down into the U.S.': Trump cabinet member weighs in on Alberta separatism | CBC News U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent commented Thursday on the separatist movement in Alberta — making him the highest-ranking member of the Trump administration to weigh in on the province's politic...

He understands that by any measurement to date, it’s a very small number of Albertans who want to seperate, and even fewer of those who want to be Americans…doesn’t he?! I mean we’re OK with shipping them there, I guess…but they’re not bringing anything with them when they immigrate 🤷‍♀️ 👋

I’d bump move UN up to the top of that list, but otherwise that’s spot on.

This is why I’ve been harping on the need for much stronger condemnations of the illegal US/Venezuela actions. Non-specific condemnations like @mark-carney.bsky.social and @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu made is why Trump is expanding his threats. Now is not the time to go all Neville Chamberlain on us.

Canada isn’t on this list…but I do not believe for one second that it is off his list in general. He just knows that threatening Canada would risk a much harsher international response than he’s seen thus far. Which is shameful - the US should not be threatening ANY country’s sovereignty. Period.

I block the obviously fake or bots, and the nasty or willfully ignorant…but I usually give the willfully ignorant the opportunity to change their minds first. If they double down, buhbye. I mute the “heart in the right place” but seriously annoying people. I’ve blocked a lot in the past 24 hrs.

Every day, a new grotesque action by the US government is exposed.

I think you have misunderstood my comments. I’m saying Anand’s statement is not tough enough on either criminal. She singles out Maduro but makes no mention of the illegal actions of the US. It’s not a difficult concept to hold in one’s mind that they are both criminals, but she has chosen not to.

How did you reach the conclusion that I’m complicit?

3 months ago 1 0 1 0

Disappointed @mark-carney.bsky.social took all day to make a statement and then didn’t unequivocally call out the illegality of the US actions. I am glad that he spoke out about Maduro and he centred the Venezuelan people in his statement. For me, without calling out US, makes it feel a bit weak.

“Our Constitution places the gravest decisions about the use of military force in the hands of Congress for a reason. Using military force to enact regime change demands the closest scrutiny, precisely because the consequences do not end with the initial strike.

“If the United States asserts the right to use military force to invade and capture foreign leaders it accuses of criminal conduct, what prevents China from claiming the same authority over Taiwan’s leadership? What stops Vladimir Putin from asserting similar justification to abduct Ukraine’s president? Once this line is crossed, the rules that restrain global chaos begin to collapse, and authoritarian regimes will be the first to exploit it.

“None of this absolves Maduro. He is a corrupt authoritarian who has repressed his people, stolen elections, imprisoned political opponents, and presided over a humanitarian catastrophe that has forced millions of Venezuelans to flee. The Venezuelan people deserve democratic leadership, and the United States and the international community should have done far more, years ago, to press for a peaceful transition after Maduro lost a vote of his own citizens. But recognizing Maduro’s crimes does not give any president the authority to ignore the Constitution.

“The hypocrisy underlying this decision is especially glaring. This same president recently pardoned former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, who was convicted in a U.S. court on serious drug trafficking charges, including conspiring with narcotics traffickers while in office. Yet now, the administration claims that similar allegations justify the use of military force against another sovereign nation. You cannot credibly argue that drug trafficking charges demand invasion in one case, while issuing a pardon in another.

“America’s strength comes from our commitment to the rule of law, democratic norms, and constitutional restraint. When we abandon those principles, even in the name of confronting bad actors, we weaken our credibility, endanger global stability, and invite abuses of power that will long outlast any single presidency.”

Exactly! It’s really not that hard to hold those two thoughts at the same time 😁

I’m not saying that at all. I’m saying that both Maduro’s and Trump’s actions are criminal and both of those things can be true at the same time. Maduro is a bad actor, and so is the US. Her statement implies that only Maduro is wrong in this situation. They’ve both acted unlawfully.
