It can be done. The US has just decided to run like a for-profit machine and forget about everything but profit.
I loved my concert. I loved the fact that the experience was never marred by bad organization even more.

As soon as the concert was over, everyone walked out—zero jostling—to see a fleet of buses waiting. As soon as one fills up, it would leave, opening the space for another one. You swiped your credit card, paid £5, and found yourself in the centre of the city 15 mins later.
I went to the Taylor Swift concert in Edinburgh. The taxi driver who took us from the outskirts of the city to the Stadium insisted on driving us free of charge bc he saw how excited we were.
Well, the most reputed source of data on democratic and autocratic regimes in the world just published their report, and they do not exactly agree with this assessment.
Have you read Karen Hao’s Empire of AI? It has a chapter dedicated to this issue, and said chapter is wonderful. I had no idea about these dynamics and had to stop reading on multiple occasions to calm down, but it should be required reading for anyone who uses AI for any purpose.

I have never understood the hate for this airline. If you abide by the luggage rules and are willing to accept the occasional delay, it gets you from A to B very cheaply and efficiently. I saw 12 new countries in a single year because they offered tickets cheaper than train rides and I pack light.
I consider myself fortunate for having drank my coffee *before* the NYTimes notifications flooded in this morning thanks to the time difference.
My most public freak-out took place on a street in Bulgaria when a Romani lady randomly took my hand and told me two things that I had only openly discussed with family members. I have no idea if she was a skilled observer or she possessed some sort of a skill. I never want to repeat the experience.
I used Garamond to type all of my notes for my comprehensive exams. I haven’t used it since because I used to get nauseous just seeing it on paper.
I feel so much empathy for this person and his ambition, but I cannot help but gasp at the lunacy (and arrogance) of attempting such a thing. How many people not coming from a developed Western country can even fathom going with “I’ll tell them I was confused and hope they believe me?”
Is there a reason why anyone needs to set their preferences aside when it comes to dating? Or is this another article in the vein of X gen is ruining X thing?
Thank you!!
Any idea when the paper will become available to the broader audience? I am in a different discipline, so not a member of this journal.
If you decide to do it, I will definitely join.

How do oligarchs foster favorable policy outcomes in developing democracies?
I used social network and regression analyses of unique quantitative data and original interview-based evidence on the case of Ukraine (2014-2022).
Here’s what I found.
This is wrong on so many levels.
A federal judge ruled that an artificial intelligence company did not break the law when it used copyrighted books to train its chatbot without the consent of the authors or publishers — but ordered it must go to trial for allegedly using pirated books.
No, I meant four women switched this time around.
I was excited but now there are four of them? My old brain can’t keep track of who is who. And I loved Lucas Scott but am bleh on CMM.
Breaking news: A federal court in Virginia ruled that Google’s advertising technology unit is an illegal monopoly, in the second of two Justice Department antitrust cases against the tech giant.
This is an interesting question, and kind to ask. I am U.S.-based (not U.S.), but here are my thoughts. 🧵

My general impression is that you see more on Twitter (before) and here (now) than on APSA eJobs.
I am still waiting for the library copy to reach me :(.
Ah, is this “The Fugitive” with Harrison Ford?
I cannot recall if I have read this one (this probably means that I haven’t?) but I thought “Beautiful world, where are you” very eloquently put some of the questions I had been struggling with since graduating high school. I also liked “Normal People.”
Erm, doesn’t it fall on your interlocutors to keep your attention? 🧐
I am a year older and both my brain and my body insist that I am 50. In fact, they have been insisting I am 50 since I was 20.
