oh! Hmm, I have not played them!
I guess I should've marked this as a thread 🧵 but I didn't know it was gonna be one until I started ranting.
If you're a game writer, it's so crucial to consume other types of media. Not to say a streaming series is stretching our wings much-- but you can study and apply mass-market lessons to your own interactive writing.
The most enjoyable thing he's done thus far, for me, is #Galavant. If you've never seen this series, it's an absolute delight. Do yourself a favor. It's a ray of sunshine, esp. in these times. (It's a great musical, and I say this as a hater of musicals.)
The success of This Is Us is undeniable, for sure. #Writers, it's worth it to pay attention to how Fogelman weaves a story together. He's got a knack for the cold-open and the cliffhanger, but we need to use that power wisely.
Dan Fogelman veers wildly between small believable moments and absolutely ridiculous batshit soap opera stuff. I can't look away, but I can't say I enjoy it either.
Just finished Season 2 of Paradise. And that's 8 hours of my life I will never get back.
Man, you write the absolute coolest shit... ❤️
Three panel comic. Panel 1: scene from the movie Aliens; Ripley is in a mech suit and delivers her iconic line: “get away from her, you bitch!” Panel 2: the xenomorph queen lunges at Ripley in the robotic suit and they engage in a fight. Panel 3: later, the xenomorph queen is standing in the shower, mid wash. She says, “‘it takes one to know one, honey.’ That’s what I should have said.”
join me, won't you, as a real-life metaphor full of every social strata slides beneath frigid black waters under a pristine night sky.
For those of you who aren't aware, #Titanic hits the iceberg tonight, roughly around 11:40 EST.
For those as obsessed as I am, I'm syncing up the movie so the real event coincides with the cinematic moment.
Not enough Bertilak spice out in the world, imo
I love Hollywood announcements about upcoming projects: "It's a ROBOCOP web-series! It's a MARVEL reboot! It's a HOLLY HOBBY trilogy!" These are empty statements. IP is only your geography-- is there a STORY to tell there?
for those who need a little monday rev of the engine

NASA just dropped this image of Artemis II astronaut Christina Koch looking back at us. The first woman to ever see our planet in its entirety. I’m not crying you’re crying 🥹🔭🧪 📸: NASA
illustration inspired by Charlotte Perkins-Gilman's 1891 short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" depicting a woman touching sickly yellow torn wallpaper on a wall while shadowy hands reach toward her. There is another tall shadow of a figure on the wall and both figures look toward the viewer.
"The color is repellent, almost revolting; a smouldering unclean yellow, strangely faded by the slow-turning sunlight."
I made a "Yellow Wallpaper" piece back in 2017, but I re-read the story over the weekend and wanted to try again. Much happier with this version 🖤
I miss movies like this that are so delightfully and unabashedly horny.
um this is TREASURE not a puzzle!
A beauty and the beast romance is just the fantasy of making his heart soft and his dick hard
you, or the ReÄl EriC StǐrPę
But I will credit Peter Jackson for having the same motivation George Lucas did, post-Star Wars. He wants to keep the lovely and talented people in his company working. Weta is probably massively expensive, and he can't be overly precious about LOTR at their expense.
oh no I saw this announcement somewhere else and thought it was a Colbert bit.😆 But it's real... 😔
The urge to keep reheating IP absolutely tramples over having an interesting story to tell or anything new to say.
some great titles there!
I think I saw this same kind of scheme in one of the Underworld movies. 🤔
I mean, the first Unreal game was a single-player first-person-shooter. It was an original title, played pretty good and did well in the market. I imagine people might want to still play such a thing.
Or maybe, and hear me out, Games-As-A-Service isn't actually the lucrative print-money-forever totally-beloved-by-gamers paradigm they told us it was.
I don't know what this means, but it seems appropriate to almost anything happening right now.
