I do see your argument, and agree. However there are MAGAs out there trying to somehow claim Lincoln. NM that the man is spinning so hard in his grave he can power the US.
I think that's the point. The talking point all these conservatives are pushing, is that Lincoln was a Republican, and the South generally were Democrats during the Civil War as a "gotcha", but the parties have since switched since like the 1960s.
