We celebrated our volunteers with a fun night. Paul Gregory Lee brought the house down with his Frank Sinatra tribute! Huge thanks to NW Natural for hosting and setting up a yummy baked potato bar, Dennis Kohl for the desserts, Breakside Brewery, and Case by Case for the drinks. We’re so grateful!
Meet Bridget. She’s a light of hope in Portland, helping people in crisis. She listens, makes calls, fills out forms, finds shelter, care, and a way forward, like getting a cab for a guest in a wheelchair to a safe place.
Bridget is a peer support specialist with our friends at PDX Peers.
We served a lovely dinner of gyros donated from Nicholas Restaurant and a side of boxed Mac n cheese. Staff opened more than 150 boxes! 403 plates were served thanks to volunteers.
Our restroom is open to guests thanks to volunteers like Santos. The restroom volunteer manages a line, offers supplies, and keeps the space tidy. With hundreds of users daily, the restroom requires staff time. Guests can also use restrooms, showers, and laundry 2 blocks away at the city-run Oasis.
What are you hoping for? “I’m hoping that one day soon, all I have to worry about is what I want to do with my day." —Cheryl
Artist Eva Wrzesinski is drawing portraits of Blanchet's guests and capturing their stories. By the end of the year, Eva will complete 20 portraits for an exhibition.
60 women slept at our shelter last night. That’s the highest number we’ve welcomed yet. We will reserve their beds if they want us to. As a privately funded shelter, donors are the reason 60 women have a safe place to sleep again tonight. Donate at BlanchetHouse.org/donate.
Rich graduated from Stone Soup's 12-week culinary program this week. It was an honor to attend the ceremony and celebrate him. He’s worked so hard to overcome his past and has become a positive and encouraging member of our community.

A free cafe?! Yes! Blanchet House has been serving meals for 74 years in downtown Portland, OR, thanks to caring donors and supporters.
A kind woman dropped off dyed Easter eggs for the women staying at our shelter to enjoy this morning. 💜
Donating to Blanchet is so easy and so important.
I've had a monthly donation for a few years, and while it's a low amount now while I'm unemployed, I know every bit helps in a real, material way.
There's all kinds of ways to support them!

Michael Simon, pictured with his friend David, sponsored tonight’s dinner. 520 plates served! If you’d like to sponsor a meal service call us! We need your help.
We were gifted beautiful eggs from a supporter’s backyard chicken coop. Just in time for Easter. Blanchet House’s cafe relies on the kindness of others to operate and serve the community.
A new study found that homeless people with pets secure housing faster than those without. That’s why we partner with Oregon Humane to support our guests and their pets. On Fri, 4/3, 11:30am-2pm, OH will host a free vaccination clinic near Blanchet in the Lan Su Garden lot. First-come, first-served.
FOUND! We’re so happy to report that our diner was reunited with his dog, Beto. ❤️ Thank you to everyone who kept an eye out for him and reported sightings. It was a sighting that reunited them!

Betty sent handmade necklaces for women staying at our shelter, each with a note saying:
“You have found a necklace made in honor of my deceased son, Rob. I feel this is an appropriate way to share his love.” An unexpected, beautiful reminder that someone cares. Thank you, Betty.
