The OCT concert last week was supposed to be a family outing - we even offered to bring his boyfriend - but he laid the groundwork all day for not going, complaining of severe digestive issues & exhaustion. We decided if he wanted an uninterrupted evening home with the BF then we could allow that.

I can easily imagine him manufacturing a reason to approach any random white sedan & then bursting into tears while trying to talk to the driver. He's going to be processing this for a long time. The grief of loss & the knowledge that he is somewhat responsible.

He's not the most reliable narrator, unfortunately - he told me he was scared when I was "running around slamming doors" back during his boyfriend's psychotic episode & I had to gently remind him that *he* was the one "running around slamming doors" & screaming that I made him want to kill himself

All he retained was "white sedan". He said he asked the woman inside whether she might have hit a dog up in Lorain last weekend & she said she hit a squirrel yesterday & started crying.

Republicans in red states have gerrymandered to shit and back, often illegally, and when voters have passed initiatives to ban the practice, they have (even more illegally) ignored and undercut them. It is a little late to clutch your pearls and weep about the sanctity of democracy now

Just as Republican politicians never seem to have any sympathy for people suffering from a disease or discrimination until someone in their immediate family feels it, they'll never be opposed to gerrymandering until it darkens their own door.
