Dat waren stuk voor stuk goeie shows. Wat een fenomeen was het.
10 years ago my musical hero left this earth. Hoever, his music lives on.

True
Cornell natuurlijk. Ik mis wel Mercury in de lijst.
En jullie dus ook! Van harte!
For some of you April remains a tough month. So B strong the coming period and C U again in May.
It remains a song that I love to hear and ranks high amongst my favorite Prince tracks. The minimalistic instrumentation and the emotional vocals make me enjoy this song each and every time. A photo of @peterlodder.bsky.social beatifully pictures the song.
It’s not strange that this song is used during funerals from members of the Purple Familiy on way too many occasions. However, even before Prince died this song was capable to give you goosebumps all over your body.
You can feel the emotion through each sentence as Prince sings as breakable as we’ve hardly heard him. The backing vocals from Wendy & Lisa are sweet and add depth to Prince’s emotions.
The forementioned vocals are spot on. It’s sung from the perspective of Tricky (played by Jerome Benton in the movie) who lost his best friend.
The entire song it’s in close harmony with the vocals. When the volume picks up, the music starts to swell and when the volume goes down, the music sounds very intimate.
After a short intro on piano the guitar starts playing a static melody line and the piano swirls around it. However if you listen closely, you’ll hear a lot of extras around the base, but no matter what the 2 instruments always return to the base.
Apart from the emotional weight, it’s actually quite a straightforward song. Recorded with Wendy (on guitar) and Lisa (on piano), it’s leaning heavily on the vocal performance.
There are a few briljant live versions of the song done by Prince, but one that touched me the most was not performed by Prince, but by the late D’Angelo shortly after Prince’s death. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeV7...
The song was recorded on the 21st April 1985. Ironically the same day as his passing 31 years later. More info about the origin of the track can be found on princevault.com/index.php?ti...
Therefore it’s only logical that this month’s thread is about Sometime It Snows In April. Let’s start by listening tot he song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikZg...
Apart from the album and accompanying movie it’s also April. This year it’s been 10 years since Prince’s early passing and the Parade album contains the song that’s inseparable connected to his death.
A lot of background information can be seen during the IWonderU40 symposium, hosted by Prince scholar De Angela L. Duff from 17-19 April. www.polishedsolid.com/iwonderu40-h...
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Parade and it looks like the Estate is going to release an extended version of this iconic album that served as the soundtrack for the underrated Under The Cherry Moon movie.
Greetings, it’s the 7th of the month again. Time for a new #PrinceThread.
4 seasons in one day.
Oei heftig. Veel sterkte!
Spannend.
Fantastisch!
Echt een leuke shop!
The studio version is older than the 3rdEyeGirl version. But the 6:43 remix is with the ladies as far as I know.
Personally I prefer the 3rdEyeGirl version, since the guitar makes the song rock harder. I’m curious what your favourite is, so please share it in the comments.
