New Documents Undermine Trump Administration’s Claims About Offshore Wind Deal There was no new investment required from TotalEnergies, according to newly disclosed terms.

Another update from @emilypont.bsky.social on the Trump administration/TotalEnergies offshore wind deal: "The terms of the deal have been made public, and Americans’ side of the bargain appears to be worthless." heatmap.news/energy/total... 🔌💡

Yes, please fight for clean energy in your county/locality! Because you'd better believe the people who are angry about it are showing up!

I often run into folks who seem slightly confused about where our greenhouse gas emissions come from.

Many folks seem to think that greenhouse gases are basically "CO2 from burning fossil fuels" -- but that's only ~61% correct.

The other ~39% of our emissions stem from other gases and processes.

How the Trump administration’s climate math doesn’t add up There's an old argument that protecting the environment hurts the economy. It's wrong for a lot of reasons.

Love how @grist.org's Kate Yoder uses this essay on "How the Trump administration’s climate math doesn’t add up" as an excuse to slay the age-old climate-vs-the-economy trope.

Climate vs fossil-fueled profits? Of course.

Climate vs economy? Nope.

Why this NASA climate scientist wants you to stay angry “I don’t think we rebuild science without getting mad.”

I love this interview so much. Basically - the nerds are angry and we're not going away.

Also mentoring early career researchers is extra difficult now, & especially if they are in the US on a visa. There is so much added stress for international researchers.

Thought-provoking video by my friend @climateadam.bsky.social. A counterpoint though: I think more talk about space missions can be a nice wedge to talking about other science & why it needs funding. Just yesterday I was interviewed about US science funding BECAUSE of dissonance w/ Artemis coverage!

Living in Hell War crimes coming: A horrifying update

Don't think I've ever been as terrified in all the Trump security crises. As @pkrugman.bsky.social said, "It’s the most astonishing, awful thing that I’ve ever seen, and we’ve all seen a lot of awful things." Mainly as cope, and to teach it, I keep asking why. 1/ open.substack.com/pub/paulkrug...

US 2025 battery deployment skyrocketed 52% by MW and 40% by MWh, compared to 2024!

Annual deployment nearly quadrupled since 2022.

Batteries are keys to firming solar and wind and increasing grid reliability.

They are now displacing gas peakers.

Great Ember Report!

Electrotech (solar, EV, battery & more) leapfrogs fossil fuels in emerging countries. Why?

An example:

A decade ago, solar required 5 times more upfront capital investment than a coal plant.

Now, solar is less!

Solar has free fuel!

Last year, ConocoPhillips fired thousands of fossil fuel workers. Does anyone know what if anything the Republicans in power did to ensure a just transition to new, dignified jobs for those workers? This is the sort of thing people who advocate for transitions to clean energy get slammed for.

Trump’s ‘God Squad’ Will Weigh Gulf Oil Drilling Against the Survival of Endangered Whales and Turtles - Inside Climate News Citing national security, the Trump administration wants to exempt all federally regulated offshore oil from protections for endangered animals—even if it could cause their extinction.

The Secret War on Taxes (And Democracy)
The Secret War on Taxes (And Democracy) YouTube video by Patriotic Millionaires

A government that can raise real revenue is one that can hold the wealthy accountable.

Throughout American history, opponents of democracy have tried to undermine the government’s capacity to tax so that they could keep power in their own hands: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqDd...

My utility in PJM has: high resi rates, long interconnection queue, no tariffs in sight that would encourage even a modest amount of VPP behavior. Help! What do we do?

Will California fund or kill its thriving virtual power plant program? Gov. Newsom’s administration has proposed ending a program that’s brought a gigawatt of grid relief online. Lawmakers want to know what will replace it.
