It’s finally happened. After 18 months. Finally, a media merger you can root for.
seeing trans joy and gender euphoria literally helped me access Cis+, and become way more comfortable expressing my femininity. Words can't express how grateful I am to the trans community for that!!!
Happy 80th Birthday to the legendary Tim Curry! 🖤

a pen drawing of scritchy the raccoon traffic cone that says "Ride on, Scritchy..."
catching up on today's journal page #pylonwars
A man holding a painting of a raccoon face
Real flowers and duct tape roses laid next to a pylon
Two guys holding signs that read justice for Scritchy and we miss scritchy
A little raccoon face pin made out of duct tape on a black sweater
Halifax keeping it real

Katy Jean addresses a crowd of people, many wearing bicycle helmets, at the intersection of Harvard and Allan streets in Halifax.
A large crowd of people gathered at the intersection of Harvard and Allan streets in Halifax. Many have bicycles while a few are using scooters. They are listening to Katy speak.
Two homemade signs stuck in a planter. One says "We miss Scritchy" and has a drawing of a raccoon's face. Another says "Justice 4 Scritchy!"
Several flowers and bouquets of flowers laid against a traffic cone at the intersection of Harvard and Allan streets.
Big turnout for Scritchy the Raccone's memorial service at the Harvard/Allan diverter this afternoon. @katynotie.bsky.social delivered a moving eulogy before mourners observed a moment of silence. #BikeHfx
legend has it he's still out there diverting traffic to this very day....

France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces.
Equals 10 nuclear reactors
Reduces heat island, shades cars
The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight.
Why aren't we doing this?

folks, they tell you they’re invincible
they tell you they’re inevitable
they tell you that you should give up and stop fighting
and absolutely none of that is true

I know Carney is conservative. But accepting this floor crossing shows an absolutely astonishing deficit in values and judgement
A WHOLE CIVILIZATION WILL DIE TONIGHT My son needs lunch, and I have to put his backpack together, but a whole civilization will die tonight, so I'm wondering if they've closed their schools. Like, a snow day, maybe, except instead of snow it's "keep your children home so if you die, you die together" — instead of "well open back up once the plows have cleared" it's "we don't know if we'll be here tomorrow, hold your babies tight." It's just "talk" I'm told, which I've been told before. "It's how the president makes his deals." But I've never heard anyone talk about other human beings this way, and I'm not certain I can look my son in the eyes if we all agree to stomach it one more time. A civilization will die tonight, but as I zip up his backpack and kiss him off to school I think: if this is what we call leadership then I'm not entirely sure ours isn't already dead. @michaelfdubois Mukad A QuBoy @michacifdubois
Brutal.
To this day I am still astonished by how much I *loved* 17776 (a.k.a. "What Football Will Look Like in the Future"). If anyone out there hasn't seen it yet, head to www.sbnation.com/a/17776-foot...
“You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch.” ― Edgar Mitchell Image: Earthset captured through the Orion spacecraft window at 6:41 p.m. EDT, April 6, 2026, during the Artemis II crew’s flyby of the Moon. A muted blue Earth with bright white clouds sets behind the cratered lunar surface. The dark portion of Earth is experiencing nighttime. On Earth’s day side, swirling clouds are visible over the Australia and Oceania region. In the foreground, Ohm crater has terraced edges and a flat floor interrupted by central peaks. Central peaks form in complex craters when the lunar surface, liquefied on impact, splashes upwards during the crater’s formation.
Waking up to the awe-inspiring images from NASA at the same time the US President is implying that he will commit genocide, I can't think of a better quote for the times than this one from Apollo astronaut Edgar Mitchell. I added it to today's Earthset image:
The Moon: oh wow you guys decided to come back
Artemis II crew: earth’s haunted
A few have suggested that some aspects of this mission--joy, international teamwork, diversity--are being played up to stick it to the hateful attitude of the administration. But I don't think it's that. I think it's just that those things are essential to and inseparable from a mission like this.
What a beautiful moment.
Absolute cinema watching that jar of Nutella escape contain behind the backs of the astronauts after packing other things away
not only is this tacky and weak, but this design is ugly as hell dude lol
i hope to eventually see a gif of the jar of nutella that floated across the spaceship and got kicked into the ceiling just before humanity set an incredible new record and made me cry because that was a real rollercoaster of emotion
