Then when ya post, you can select that list as well via the little audience button bottom right to limit reply functionality to them only.

Make a new list. Add your friends. Pin feed (top right).
Ya sorta gotta remember to do it when you add friends or else ya lose track who you’ve not added.

Got the last bit wrong. Ya can’t just post to your friends privately. But making a friends feed is easy. Will post a few screenshots

The thing I like so far about Bluesky is the options to have it how you like it. This should be no different.

And many would love to leave FB for reasons other than its features.

Primarily because those on FB would like somewhere else to go that’s safe.

It defaults to ‘hot’ replies. Which I found confusing too. You can change to ‘oldest first’ and ‘threaded’ in the settings, which makes it far more logical to me. For small scale use amongst friends anyhow. I guess it might get unwieldy on large threads.

The closest we’ve got is blocking your unknown followers and only allowing those you follow to reply to your posts. That’s not enough @bsky.app !

Not sure where else to ask this,but I’d like my posts to only be visible to my list of friends. Creating a true safe space. This appears to be the Bluesky ethos, but I don’t hear it specifically mentioned anywhere. Could you comment where this issue might be headed? Is everything public the goal? Tx

There’s a massive opening were they to do that huh. Apparently it’s hard, coz it’s all been set up to be very ‘open’ and transportable to other platforms using the same protocol. And the goal was a Twitter replacement. I dearly hope they broaden their horizon to snaffle FB as well 🤞

And if that’s me.. in a wee safe little corner of rural NZ. I fear for the energy left in some of those with fight left in the states.

I know I’ve hit a bit of a wall of exhaustion, shock, helplessness, hopelessness, apathy, amongst other terribly unhelpful states.

You can change this setting to reduce the chances posts go public (and are shown only to logged in users). But apparently the goal here is to keep everything open and accessible, so private posts might be a while down the roadmap.

Correction. I can post that only they can interact. All posts here are public (which is the major thing that makes this more like Twitter than Facebook to me)

Trying to hack this so it’s a bit more Facebook like. I’ve made a list of real life friends only. Now I have a feed of just them. And can post to just them. If you can see this.. you’re in that list.

You’re not wrong. I’ve made a list/feed of only friends. And there’s an option when you post to only post so those people ‘can interact’. Unsure if this means it’s still public though
