why not have both? "use your internet handle to log into your atmosphere account"
in my mind they are two different things:
internet handle = @<URL here>
atmosphere account = the account-shaped thing you use to interact with the atmosphere

this is the one I always refer back to

In the latest version of TOKIMEKI, I’ve added columns for the standard.site post feed and the mochott following timeline!
I’ve already far surpassed the Twe*tDeck Bluesky Edition and are aiming for a multidimensional, multi-column layout that integrates Atmosphere!!

time is a flat circle, ive been on here since april 2024 and this happens like every six months
seems like we're due for a fresh round of "bluesky is dying / bluesky was mean to me"
on science education youtube this is called getting Dereked, because Derek from @veritasium.bsky.social is notorious for doing the exact thing but in video form, see video below (timestamp: 1:35)

I wanna see Popfeed feeds, Tangled feeds, Standard.site feeds, event feeds, link feeds, etc, etc. This should make it easier to adopt the same patterns across all, and empower feed generator platforms like @graze.social support non-bluesky lexicons.
NEW PROJECT FROM ME for #AtmosphereConf remote viewers!
This is a web app (and PWA for mobile) that lets you see all 3 streams in one place, with a realtime #AtmosphereConf feed (from @atmosphereconf.org) embedded.

Anyway, cooking on it
here it is folks!
lots of details to still nail down, but this is roughly where our heads are at for the design of a permissioned data protocol
give it a read and let me know your thoughts!
Some very exciting news - it looks like the working group for AT Protocol at the IETF has been approved! (though not formalized in the datatracker just yet)
This is a big milestone in the standards process. But is also just the start of the actual process - years of meetings & work ahead!
Wow about to hit 4k followers 👀 Want to do us a solid and tell friends about Leaflet? Maybe…
"If you like open social publishing, you're gonna love Leaflet!"
"Finally, a great blogging tool + an open network…time to ditch Substack!"
…or y'know something to that effect :) Thanks, appreciate y'all!
The old guard tries to play the old way, but realizes the game they once played is no longer playable because of the rules they helped write.
We'll be playing with our own building blocks over here. Good luck with all that.
continuing to build up our permissioned data protocol!
this one asks what a bucket actually is and where the data that constitutes a bucket is stored. it argues for maintaining the atproto ethos in the permissioned data protocol
as always, looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
This Heron helps you connect wherever you are in the ATmosphere 😌
fun fact: Hong Kong has, by a very, VERY long mile, the highest gas prices in the world at HKD$30/L, or around $13/gallon. I would like to see LA beat that!
show don't tell!
new bsky server status account just dropped 👀
A screenshot of the Bluesky app demonstrating how you can now tap the "Translate" button to translate a post without leaving the app.
v1.118 rolls out today!
New in this update: You can now translate posts without leaving the app.
Simply tap "translate" on mobile and your phone's built-in translation takes it from there.

it's kinda interesting that outages on bluesky are almost always partial - the site still works but something weird is broken. Meanwhile over on X "✨️The Everything App✨️" when it goes down it goes down for EVERYONE and nothing works
new blog post on permissioned data in atproto! this one introduces "buckets", the protocol-level primitive for shared access control. I walk through two approaches that don't quite work and land on something that I think does
let me know your thoughts!
mrwhosetheboss noticed this too (video timestamp @ 1:52)
youtu.be/ObqHKHoSE5Y?...
I was right, you can see the screen reducing in brightness as it's viewed from the side here (video timestamp @ 1:08)
youtu.be/EJPI04bjcOY?...
interesting tradeoff of display quality at the sides where you probably won't notice in normal use for a cool feature
also probably the only thing that's even remotely interesting in the entire #galaxyunpacked lmao
this means when Privacy Display is on, the display resolution and brightness are halved. But more importantly I think this also means even when the feature is "off", when you view the display from the sides *the same thing will happen*, because you can't see the narrow pixels from the side!
