As a kid, Final Fantasy X felt like this massive leap forward in the series, compared to the last one I played, FFVII. As an adult, I'm shocked at how similar it is in presentation. Music, visuals, gameplay (obviously). The advancement feels minimal in retrospect. (Still an amazing game though)
