Sadly it is official, my current employment contract finishes at the end of March. It has been a fantastic three years at Migrant Voice. If you, or someone you know, knows of job opportunities for an experienced policy, advocacy and comms person, across multiple sectors, please do let me know.

I loved Vance’s book. It was the comparison with the politician he became that was so dispiriting.

Happens in every book club! My mother-daughter one has run for 26 years (daughters turn 37 this year) and everyone but me hated our (my) last pick. The book wasn’t awful at all, but they didn’t like it. (Dos Passos Manhattan Transfer)

And then you turn round and they are finishing A-levels and that’s it (until exhausting grand-children come along)

I’ve tried to donate twice and it says there’s an error- though not what the error is. So I will go to the charity direct and please add £50 to your total. #MerryEverything

Q: A number of Republicans have denounced your statement on Rob Reiner. Do you stand by it?

TRUMP: Well, I wasn't a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned.

Earned settlement The government is consulting on how the current settlement system should be reformed and how those reforms should be implemented.

If, like me, this utter betrayal by Labour is making your blood boil, can I ask you let them know your feelings here www.gov.uk/government/c...

I don't often call for resignations. But Sir Robbie Gibb's role in the BBC boardroom coup makes his continued role there untenable. He must resign or be removed

Strengthening border security and reforms to the asylum system Home Secretary statement on actions the government is taking with France to strengthen border security and reforms to the asylum system.

Well, Yvette, maybe refugees are applying for family reunification as soon as they can because 1) they've spent ages waiting for status and miss their kids; 2) it takes ages for reunification applications to be approved; and 3) their kids are ineligible once they turn 18 www.gov.uk/government/s...

The Jura is gorgeous. Really shouldn’t pass through en route for Italy

Outrageous use of language! The @bbc ought to think harder. But also this could be the introduction of safe, legal routes which we’ve all been looking for. No-one wants smugglers or small boats. A proper application process (like for the Ukrainians) is what’s needed.

Last drop-in before the summer break saw the children playing, the craft table in full flow, and lots of goodies from @cityharvestnyc.bsky.social @vodafonegroup.bsky.social and others to distribute. See you all in September #refugeeswelcome

Goldsmith Avenue annual street party today (going since 2012) Good time had by all, especially the children: singalong; dog show; cake competition; games and the famous odds v evens tug of war. Builds our community!

Lots of young children at our drop-in this week. Early half-term? Luckily we had plenty for them to do, including the famous, free haircuts. Z will be snipping more at @johnperrynps @RefugeeWeek celebration. #refugeeswelcome

What I can’t work out is 1) does it apply to refugees and 2) does it apply to those who already have refugee status, are poised for ILR (which is currently 1 year before you apply for citizenship) Causing so much stress among existing, hard-working, integrated etc etc refugees.

What I can’t work out is whether the white paper applies to refugees at all. Have the odd desperate Syrian with ILR already asking what it all means for them. Said it’s too early to tell. The stress generated…

Lovely to see people volunteering to prepare the best roast potatoes in west London. Whatever else our brilliant cooks serve, there’s ALWAYS roast potatoes (most asylum-seekers can’t access ovens, so a real treat) We need a LOT - enough for 100 or more each week. #refugeeswelcome

Isn’t this a sort of re-establishment of the Dublin agreement that fell with Brexit? I suppose it depends when in the process it happens.
